This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty 7-18-09

He’s a Livan on a Mets plane -
I hope he won’t be back again
!” Rustyjr

Well that kind of sums up my feelings on last nights performance with Livan Hernandez ( it brought a new meaning to the word suckatude !!)- the bad news is Mungo Jerry Manuel said after the game he has no intention of sending Livan on a slow boat to Cuba or oblivion for that matter . ( Hey I guess we are trying hard for a first round draft pick next year !) .
Anyway it time yet again ( painful I know) for ” This Day In Mets Infamy With yours truly!
Born on this day in1955 was former Atlanta Brave catcher/ Met killer Bruce Benedict . Bruce went on to manage the manage in the Mets minor league system before becoming a coach for the big team in the late ’90′s
Also a year older is the Mets former first round draft pick from 1981 – Terry Blocker (1959) Terry had a brief stint with the Mets but was soon traded away and never reached his potential.
Current Mets farm hand who had a brief ( and solid) stint with the big team – Pat Misch is 28 (1981) Pat is being used as a starter for the AAA Buffalo Bison’s right now and is getting results ( fifth starter next season anyone?)

New York Mets purchased Dave Eilers from the Milwaukee Braves on August 18, 1965.

New York Mets traded Brett “I don’t give a damn!” Butler to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Scott Hunter and Dwight Maness on August 18, 1995. The Mets did this as a courtesy to Brett because first of the Mets were stinking something very bad at that time , and Brett was on the verge of retirement and wanted to end his career with the Dodgers.
Lastly I just want to thank all of you guys that wrote on my face book page giving me and my wife your thoughts and support while my Basset Hound Picabu was in surgery yesterday. She is doing well and there is a 85 % chance she will walk again!!
