First up is Gary Sheffield. Gary went 3-5 with 2 rbi’s and two doubles. Serving as the Mets “muscle” for the time being, Gary put together a nice game…for a guy that does not expect to stay with the Mets. Gary said to the NYP:
Man Up Awards For Tuesday Night
“I do not think I will be here,” Sheffield said. “But if I am sent to a team that I don’t want to play for, I would go home.”
Regardless on how this falls out, Gary has been a much better citizen than what his history would tell ya and on behalf of all Met fans I would like to thank him for making this season somewhat interesting. Great game Gary.
Next up is Luis Castillo. Luis had a similar game to Gary Sheffield, going 3-5 with 2 rbi’s. Luis is hitting .306 on the season with 65 runs. Luis has surpassed his games played from last year(87) by playing his 103rd game this season. I think Luie has gone far in getting back into the good graces of Met fans. Well done Luie
Last up is Jeff Francoeur. Frenchy went 3-5 with two doubles and accounted for two runs. Jeff in 35 games for the Mets this season is batting .305 with 22 RBI’s and 5 HR’s. Needless to say, while the Mets were very quiet during trading this year…they really hit the ball out of the park with this deal. Great game Jeff
Oliver Perez for getting a hit and keeping the 4th inning rally going after getting down 2 strikes on failed bunt attempts
Fernando Tatis and Omir Santos for going 2-4 and a RBI a piece
