First up is Mike Pelfrey. Mike had a little swagger to him last night as he went 6 innings, only allowing 2 earned runs against the NL leading offense. Mike is now 3-0 against the Phillies this year and definitely seems to have a bone to pick with a few of the Phills. Last time that Mike faced the Phills, there was a little sparing of words between him and Chase Utley. Last night his beef was against Cole Hamels who drilled him in the shoulder in the 2nd inning. Mike is the only major league pitcher that has 3 wins against the defending world champs this year.
Next up is Jeff Francouer. Jeff had a nice night going 3-4 with a HR and an RBI. Frenchy was the victim of a horrible umpire call in the fifth that in my opinion, ranks in the top 5 for this year(which is a pretty big accomplishment as the umpiring has been awful this year). Jeff got a big jump to steal second and on a bad throw by Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz, was still called out on a “phantom tag” by Jimmy Rollins. Any replay that you see of this play, Rollins glove clearly did not even touch Jeff. Jerry Manuel would eventually argue the call and get tossed.
Last up is Francisco Rodriguez. K-rod(in usual fashion) made it interesting in the ninth before recording his 27th save in 32 chances. Frankie retired Matt Stairs for the first out before giving up a double to Jimmy Rollins. Shane Victorino singled to move Rollins to 3rd. With runners on the corners, Krod bared down to strike out Chase Utley and Ryan Howard to end a rare good game from the Mets.
Fernando Tatis for his H-U-S-T-L-E out of the box on the triple in the 2nd inning
Brian Stokes and Pedro Feliciano for 2 innings of scoreless relief
Angel Pagan, Luis Castillo and Daniel Murphy for going 2-4
