Bobby O made a very good point on the post game the other night. He said it’s every players responsibility to play the rest of these games to the best of their ability. Yes, the Mets are most certainly out of the race, but he said the teams above them are not. They owe it to game to play to the best of their ability.
As individuals, he said they owe it to the team and themselves to do the same. Some are playing for the chance to stay up at the ML level. Some are playing – even knowing there is a chance they’ll be traded. He commented that wouldn’t you rather be playing good, be traded for something decent back, then a bag of balls? Said if you’re going to get insulted for being traded for nothing, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself.
He made a couple of other points along those lines as well. It’s all about professionalism. And I couldn’t agree more…
