- According to Bart Hubbuch’s Twitter, the NY Post sportswriter is reporting that J.J. Putz’s latest rehab outing has been cancelled.
- According to John Minko of WFAN during his latest 20/20 sports update, the Mets have shut down Putz for the season. (He stated this during his 4:40pm update, but did NOT mention it during the 5:00pm update. Therefore a question mark has been added to the title of the post).

now, I assume they decline the option, and probably watch him go elsewhere and have a rebound year (getting nothing in return).

I don’t know if I’d say “official” but the Mets flagship radio station announced it that way at 4:40pm with John Minko doing the update, then again at 6:00pm with Rich Ackerman doing the update, so 2 different update guys on the Mets own station said “shutting him down for the season.” I added the question mark to the title simply because I could not find a second source.
As I type this Gary Cohen is quoting Jerry Manuel as saying JJ is “shut down.”
