We all know this has been a horrible year with respect to injuries. Let’s direct our energy to finding ways how to improve this team for next year! Oh I kid I kid…

So Krod is the last man standing from what we call the core. Castillo has been great. I never thought I would be saying this because I hate Castillo and his weak slap the ball approach but he is welcomed on this team next year lol.

    1. Mr North Jersey

I agree as much as I dislike Castillo when you look at his numbers how can you not give him his props for what he has done in an otherwise dismal season. All we can hope for is that he can continue to give the Mets in 2010 what he has done this season.

      1. JoeR

Hopefully he has the same drive and most importantly….HEALTH!!

Thats not even counting guys like Gee who was supposed to add depth to the SR discussion.

I wonder if you add our entire Minor League system will it surpass the Mets Major League Disabled List?

So now the Mets say surgery is an option for Reyes….I really cant cope anymore if he gets surgery and misses the start of the season i will kill myself!!

Near brilliant pitching performance today by Pat Misch. If I was him, I’d slap Brian Stokes upside the head…..
Stokes has been great for months now. Too bad he picked today to meltdown.

    Nice effort though. Sigh….

Why is this no where on the site?

Fred Wilpon will be forced to sell the New York Mets due to his involvement in Bernie Madoff’s pyramid scheme.

That statement comes from Erin Arvedlund, the author of Madoff’s biography “Too Good To Be True,” published earlier this August. Arvedlund says Madoff took Wilpon for about $700 million, just a part of the $65 billion bilking that earned Madoff a 150-year prison sentence.

The timeline for a sale is unknown, but Arvedlund said that it is “certain” Wilpon will part with the team.

A team spokeswoman issued the following comment to Fox Business: “The numbers speculated continue to be inaccurate. We refute what has been reported. As we have said on numerous occasions, losses incurred by the Sterling Partners do not and will not affect the day-to-day operations and long-term plans of the Mets organization. The team is not for sale in any respect.”

Hey Sabes it is on the site Prismo put it on this morning’s open thread

      http://realdirtymets.com/2009/08/28/morning-open-thread-8-28-09/

Your quote of Arvelund is inaccurate nowhere in the artice is she quoted as saying certain she is quoted as saying “It’s a matter of when. It could be as soon as next year.”

Also the Mets spokesman replied with the following
“The numbers speculated continue to be inaccurate. We refute what has been reported. As we have said on numerous occasions, losses incurred by the Sterling Partners do not and will not affect the day-to-day operations and long-term plans of the Mets organization. The team is not for sale in any respect.”

I’d say It is more likely an attempt to sell a book until I see other evidence to back up her story.

In either case I am sure there are many Mets fans that would be Happy.

MY quote? Actually that was Buster Olney and I don’t believe he’s quoting Arvelund, I believe he’s saying certain the same way I would say, Madoff’s ponzi scheme was a “rip-off.” The Olney article also calls the Madoff scheme a pyramid scheme, which it most certainly was not.

        1. Mr North Jersey

Sorry when I read “Arvedlund said that it is “certain” ” I never would interpret that as Olney said. Maybe you should of said “Olney said that it is “certain”.
