TRDMB Comment #30,000, Winner!

toasteraward

Thanks to Metsfan4decades TRDMB just tripped 30,000 comments.  It has been a great ride since this site was started in late May.  Stay tuned as in the coming months TRDMB will go through a lot of changes including 6 new authors being brought in and a site redesign.  You will also be able to complete a survey about how we can improve the site.  Remember as was stated many times in the early goings, this is your site as much as it is ours.  For now, please enjoy the famous TRDMB toaster as a symbol of our gratitude.  Considering that Metsfan4decades already has one of our prize toasters for the 1,000th comment I offer this one to TRDMB community.

Also, you may take a stroll down memory lane thanks to Mr. NJ.

Subject: What to do with 1B?
Comment: At this point I think our best option is #3, quickly. We can’t have a guy that can’t hit and has no clue at the position. Jeremy Reed makes NO sense for 1B. I can understand Tatis, Murphy, Sheff but Reed?

Subject: Putz Kaput for 8-10 weeks?
Comment: Thats true but if this is really whats causing Putz to lose 5 mph off his fastball then hopefully it comes back. Stupid organization should have had him get the surgery a few weeks ago.

Comment: My prize came today (faith and fear in flushing). Looks good. My son grabbed it and is reading it. So far, I had to explain to him who Mike Vail was. I may not get it back for a while.

Comment:  If we do resign Delgado, then what is the backup choice? We keep Murphy? There is no way Delgado makes it through most of the season healthy, in my opinion.

I know the FA first baseman choices are really slim this year. If we can sign Delgado cheap, and we do keep Murphy, then we’d better be going after that younger bat for LF – and someone who can actually play LF. I don’t want to hear about Pagan being either our starting LF or RF. At best, he should be part of our bench.
And someone should give him a book of ‘Baseball Instincts for Dummies 101′ to read over the off season….

    congrats 4D.

although for some reason, I feel like the RB that carried the ball 10 times for 85 yards on a drive, then they bring in someone off the bench to punch the ball in for the TD!

Maybe you should change your avatar to a Brandon Jacobs pic.

I am sure I am up there. I choose to think of it as me being active in TRDMB community instead of never posting.

Funny thing is this is not my REAL job and it is his. But comments are not important. There is no way another site could be formed out of people who actually enjoy comments.

Maybe even more impressive is that we have authored 1,050 post.

Anyone have an idea of what draft pick the Mets would get if the standing stayed the same?

    1. stickguy

I believe they are up to about #7.

wilpons must be peeing their pants, worring about the potential signing bonus!

      1. trs86

Yup, I believe I saw they were 1.5 games back from a #5 pick. Go other team?

        1. CaseStreet

I’ll just be glad w/ a protected pick and hopefully signing a Boras Baby (goes down in the draft because of high price).

Hey don’t we also get some picks for not signing the two guys this year?

          1. trs86

            Not sure, sounds familiar.

          2. stickguy

I think that is only for 1st round picks, but I can’t swear to it.

  6. metsfan4decades

Great blog. Congrats to all who took the time to put this together and make it a success.

6 new authors? That’s great. Looking forward to some new perspectives, especially during the Hot Stove season. I don’t know about you all, but I’m looking forward to it. Seems like I’ve been looking forward to that since June….

And you know I would like nothing better than to see the Mets sweep the Phils while the Marlins keep right on winning.

Looking at the Phils these past few weeks and I see a team that is tired, struggling and not playing well at all. Their offense is down (hey Stairs GS last night was like his first hit in 30 ABs), forget their closer, their BP is struggling. Hamels hasn’t had a good year, Lee was not very good his last couple of starts. They’re now starting to make errors and some multiple errors in games.
If the Phils don’t hit HRs, they don’t win games. Period.

Someone said it earlier – about the Dodgers struggling also since the ASB. I think they’re playing like .500 ball. I hate to say it but I guess these ML players are going to have to look at some other method for keeping fresh playing through September other than the preferred – which is now outlawed.

  8. stickguy

it would be amazing to see the Phils collapse and miss the playoffs. But, I doubt it happens.

next best thing is for them to stumble down the stretch, have to work hard, barely survive, and get blown out in the 1st round.

I saw the question in chatter about who the Phils want to face. How exactly are the Rockies doing it this year? Are they that good?

I just figured the dodgers could handle the phils, and hopefully dodger stadium + manny vs. all the lefties would be enough!

I have been reduced to hoping that the Phils and Yanks get bounced in the 1st round. That way I can actually watch some fall baseball. If they meet in the WS< I con’t even turn the TV on.

  9. GravediggerHebner

6 new authors huh? Gonna need some traffic cops!

    1. CaseStreet

they’re part of the “trusted circle”

their comments have been pending review all this time

      sorry, had a flashback

      1. trs86

Funny thing is that one of them seriously had registered for MCBlog and has been in moderation limbo forever.

        1. prismo

Hey me too…actually I registered within a day or two of when MC changed the system. Granted, I’ve only commented a few times since TRDMB came around, but they’ve all been but into moderation forever.

          1. trs86

Yeah, I did too the other day. Trying to bridge the gap and they never went through.

          2. CaseStreet
