My Maine Man!

Back On The Maine Road

Back On The Maine Road

Mets lose 1st game of Double Header 5-4 but more importantly John Maine returned to the starting rotation to hopefully show the Mets that he will be ready to help Mets win in 2010.

I saw the game (am I the only one left watching these games? LOL).

Wasn’t too bad an outing from Maine. He said he was nervous. Said he expects to be right back in the saddle after another start of 2. Question is – what saddle will that be? 7 strong, low pitch count or 5-6 innings of foul balls and high pitch count? I guess it’s something though that his arm feels good.

And man….if we had some semblance of a BP – outside of Pedro and KRod – we wouldn’t be losing even more games. But I guess that’s what happens when half your BP is now in your starting rotation…
    Broadway? Uh….not that good.

Hey, the bullpen’s been the best part of this team in 2009!

  2. steveo

I think that maines best days are behind him sorry johnny 57 pithches in 3 innings time to part ways and move in a new direction

  3. stickguy

Maine will rebound and have a big year next year. You can quote me on it.And, if they let him go for nothing, the odds triple.

I saw much of the game (thanks to the philly station!). Stoner was jobbed a bit, in that neither HR would have been out in Citi, and the 2nd one in particular was a cheap fly ball that hit the jet stream.

Oh, lance broadway should just be released now to get it over with. Never want to see him again unless they are down by double digits!

i literally have a tear in my eye…what a joke!!!!!!!!!! Murphy is a joke!!! I know im emotional right now but pedro throwing 130, the crowd going nuts, and then Murphy!! I want him gone….u idiot!! what a year..icing on the cake…its been rough guys,,,wow

  5. Mr North Jersey

Well as long as you know your emotional. :-)

  6. Mr North Jersey

So what does that say about us when Pedro goes 8 innings throws around 130 pitches and we don’t score 1 run?

    1. JoeR

idk im not rational right aqbout now lol but this is awful. i know this is really no big deal we have been out of it for months but this rubbede me the wrong way

      1. Mr North Jersey

Well we will always have yesterday.

    2. metsfan4decades

I’d say I’d leave Pedro out there too with the state of the Philly BP these days. No matter how good he was pitching, you know damn well if they could trust anyone in that Philly BP, Pedro would not have pitched that 8th.

      Shades of Mets last year.

And I wish someone would teach Murphy the art of running the bases. What was he thinking?

  7. JoeR

I really dont know how to put this in words but pedro gave us life and a new beginning….and now put the nail in the coffin. what coffin..idk this year has been over but something doesnt seem right,,,i feel like the phils are laughing at us…the icing for the last 3 years. i calmed down now but murphy cmon dude

    1. Mr North Jersey

Phils are beating us with a pitcher we didnt want I’d say yes they are having a good laugh at our expense.

      1. metsfan4decades

Last laugh will be the Phills going into post season with Lidge as closer and the state of their BP.

  8. Mr North Jersey

Oh Woe is me, and according to Stick Joe Morgan put da whammy on Thole calling him a Mets future Star. “WAY TO GO THERE” Joe M. now how bout saying Mets are going to win the World Series in 2010 and push the knife all the way in why don’t you.

    1. JoeR

haha..i literally havent watched a game in about a week and how in a year that is lost i am so emotional on a sunday night when my giants won i will never know!!

      1. Mr North Jersey

Heck my Jets won you’d think id b in cloud 9.

  9. Mr North Jersey

    We have been eliminated!

  10. JoeR

pedro 5 and 0…good for him..i like him.

    1. fongy2

Agreed! Pedro is a warrior and second year off surgery has regained alot of
life in that arm! I said this all spring and really, again our loss is the
Phillies gain. I know most Met fans have a hard on for the Phils but really
whats not to like about that team?
Good for Pedro, a pretty classy act and the best Pitcher of his generation!

      1. metsfan4decades

How about Lidge with 10 blown saves and Madson with 6?
Hope their starters can all pitch complete games in the post season….

        1. fongy2

Tough, tough team. Full of Pros…unlike us.

  11. JoeR

i say this joking sort of…pedro or pelfrey for 2010?

    1. metsfan4decades

LOL – glad you said ‘joking sort of’. As much as I love Pedro – just what we need. Counting on a soon to be 38 year old starter with his history of injuries.
I don’t think there is anyway Pedro pitches a full year.

  12. metsfan4decades

    ELIMINATED.

I’d say that came about firs week of June though.

    1. fongy2

More like April 30th, @ 9-12 after getting smacked around by the Fish!

  13. Mr North Jersey

Well I’m sure we all have our moments but for me it was the day we lost Beltran. I will never forget how helpless I felt and frustrated at the same time during the post game when I 1st heard those words uttered [we'll have to wait for the cavalry].

Ugh…. even now it doesn’t get any better does it?

  14. steveo

I can’t wait for pedro to have face a real offensive team so far this year he has faced us twice the nats once I believe the pirates and the padres I might be mistaken but wait for pedro in the playoffs or better yet in the ws against the yankees and watch him blow it when they tee off on him then we will have the last laugh

    1. fongy2

Thing is though that unlike some of our Pitchers, he actually does shut down the
teams which going in you’d think he should!
