   Contrary to popular opinion, it is not always bad being a mets fan.

   Even including this year, The MEts will have been in 27% of the NLCS’s in the last 11 years (it was 30% in 10 of course before this year!)

   I am way to lazy to do the reseasrch, but there are certainly not too many teams that have done better than that (including the Phils, even if they get there again this year) and a whole bunch that have never come close.

      I thought the goal was to win a championship. Getting to the NLCS isn’t a championship, especially with such a large payroll.

      And how many teams can say they choked away a 7 game lead with 17 to play? Follow that with a choke to a lesser degree, then follow that with a season where none of our worthless bums can remember how to play the game of baseball.

      No, it’s not always this bad to be a Mets fan, but you might as well expect the worst, most embarrassing things from this team until they prove you wrong.

         Of course the goal is always going to be to win the WS. But getting to the post season means the team competed all year and you get to watch them play Oct. baseball. No way is any one team going to win the WS year after year after year. Just doesn’t happen.

            I wasn’t saying it does happen like that. What I’m saying it: 3 NLCSs, 2 choke jobs, 5 straight years of mediocrity (at best), one of the worst trades in franchise history, and a season where a team of professionals plays worse than a beginning little league team, all in the same 11 year time span, doesn’t really leave a good taste in my mouth.

            No one will win the WS every year, but I see the last 11 years as a lot more negative than positive. And my hopes for the next couple years are pretty low, too.
