This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty 09-20-09

And so the quest to sixty nine continued with a win yesterday ( THANKS SEAN GREEN FOR TRYING TO SCREW IT UP !!!) Redding pitched well – but alas it was against the Washington Nationals so it really doesn’t count for spit at this juncture . So my personal note to Omar and the rest of the Mets hierarchy – DON’T – AND I REPEAT DON’T HAVE DELLUSIONS OF GRANDUER AND EVEN THINK OF RESIGNING HIM FOR NEXT YEAR !!! Anyway here comes the pain (infamy)
Happy Birthday to a pitcher no one remembers from the mid 60′s team most fans want to forget – Dennis ” Bon” Ribant (1941). Ribant was later traded for one of the most overlooked pitchers in Mets history – Don Cardwell.
Also Happy birthday to Trenton New Jersey native and bench player for the early ’90′s teams – Dave Gallagher (1960) . Gallagher now owns his own baseball camp and is a sometime analyst in SNY ( HMMM WONDER IF HE COULD MANAGE ?)
And lastly LETS GO METS !!

Not for nothing, but the Nats have better offense than we do right now. I give kudos to Redding for that game pitched. Actually Redding has been pitching some fine ball games since they released Livan. I would say he’s pitching now like we expected him to all year. Probably took just that long to recover from surgery and get in shape. I certainly am not advocating him as 5th starter, don’t get me wrong, but I’ll take him out of the BP.

Other than KRod, Pedro and maybe another lefty, I wouldn’t mind seeing all long man/potential starters in that pen next year. You just know we’ll be looking for spot starters half the season. It seems to be our MO since ’06. And stuck with Ollie in the rotation, you know there’s always going to be the potential for someone to come in and finish the game, maybe as early as the third inning….

Let’s see, we’ve got Krod, Pedro, Stokes, potential for Parnell, Misch, Redding, Figgy and Green, who I could take or leave. Of those, I’d say Krod, Pedro, Stokes, Parnell and Misch are a sure thing. Get another lefty specialist and pick one of the others and we’ve got a BP.

‘Cause here’s the way I’m seeing this shake out next year for the starting rotation:
    Johan/#2 to be acquired/Pelfry/Maine/Ollie.
Niese starts off in AAA. I’d keep Nieve also if he can start off in AAA, if not, I’d keep him for the BP.
Only way that looks different to me is if Maine really struggles in ST. I don’t know what you do with him then, but #5 could go to one of Niese or Nieve then – whoever has a better ST.

your poitching looks reasonable. but I think redding gets cut loose regardless. Too expensive to bring him back.

if maine struggles in ST, he either hits the DL, or could be in the pne (doubt ti though).

      But, he looks OK today!

jerry and luis have to go. Or a minimu, jerry has to go, and lusi needs to hit lead off.

lead off double in the 1st, and the #2 man bunts? Totally ridiculous. giving up an out, so if the #3 man Ks (DW, it happens!), you probably don’t get a run?

How about trying to get a hit, with a good chance of pulling the ball and getting the guy over anyway?

love the way they have so much confidence in the pitching staff to pitch a shutout.

Oh, while typing this, David K.s And what a freaking idiot he is, admiting that he has the yips (afraid of getting htis).

Gee, think pitchers might pick up on that? Anything mildly inside to make him bail, and then the usual slider qway for the K.

Hell, any curve inside and he wil lbe running for the dugout.

Jerry should have reamed out his butt for saying that to a writer.

and get fired for giving up another out like that. Lead off double, and you don’t expect them to score. Pitiful.

wonder what Maine’s pitch limit is for today?

I think stokesee might just be pitching himance (bring in stokes, other team puts up some runs).

not sure what happened to the middle of my sentance, but it was supposed to say pitching himself off the team for next year.

Yeah, he’s not been looking too good lately.
Well, he gave Frankie an opportunity though to come in and record a save though – LOL.

2 games in a row, taking the series. Well, at least we can still do that against that Nats.
