Good morning my fellow Mets, Jets & Giants fans . It’s lazy Sunday Edition of This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty, but first a couple of observations on last nights game. First off John Maine looked decent in his third start of since coming off of the disabled list until the fourth inning when he was losing his steam & location. Secondly it was good to see that even thought the team was down by a almost insurmountable lead – they didn’t just roll over and die ! I won’t even comment on David Wright” s lack of hustle when he should ve scored before Jeff Francour was tagged out at second base for the third out. Okay with that said LETS BRING ON THE INFAMY !
First off birthday, wishes go out to veteran relief pitcher Don Schulze (1962). we acquired his for the pennant stretch of ’87 but he didn’t make a whole lot of difference.
And back up catcher Jason Phillips is 33 (1976) He was the pre ’06 version of Mike Jacobs , starting off as a catcher for us and switching to first base when we had to find a place for his hot bat . But alas we traded him for pitcher Kaz Ishi.
Okay we mightve lost last night – But we can still BEAT THE FISH !! and knock them out of the wild card chase !! GO METS !!!
