Jerry must have done it. He’s running scared already!
My take on the rumor? Good! He at least have very positive press, not that I am even close to being in any loops.
And god help us all if the Mets pass on bringing in a talented guy because Jerry might be looking over his shoulder! Even Jerry can’t be dumb enough to A) be amazed if he is still around a week from now, and B) if A happens, to not know he is on a real short leash (and a lame duck either way).
Hey, I just figured out what would cause the biggest eruption by the fan base:
Next Wednesday, Omar calls a presser to announce they signed Jerry to an extension!

Nice game for Johnny.
Too bad last two years we didn’t finish out playing the Astros instead of the Marlins.
Quick game. 2 hours, 32 minutes. Why, you might ask? Big part of the reason is Maine didn’t feel the need to add to the walk totals the rest of the staff was guilty of this year. And not a ton of foul balls off him either.
His velocity is still down a bit but he knew what he was doing out there tonight.

Starts like this from Maine right now are VERY dangerous in my opinion.

He is going to be here anyway. But I assume you are worried they will pass on bring in another pitcher, since they already have enough?
I actually feel that at most, they won’t feel the need to add as many #5 types. But even this FO isn’t dumb enough to bank on ollie, plef, neise and maine as 80% of the rotation. No one can be that dumb, right?
But, I can live if they only add 1 established starter, and let those guys (plus the other riff raff) fight over the last 3 spots.

They did this year. Or maybe they are more inclided to bring in another #4-5 because Maine is a 3.

and if they didnt learn their lesson from this year, we are in deep, deep doo doo for next year.
especially since this time 2 guys are coming off leg surgery (plus Johan and his elbow). And after seeing pelf struggle, not to mention ollie, and with Maine still getting back to full strength, even these dim bulbs have to knowthey have to bring insomene better than a back ofthe rotation stiff
