This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty 10-02-09

Hey guys sorry I’m late It was great to have a day off from the madness – unfortunately my radio was tuned into the madness that is WFAN And Fatcessa sans Fruit Loops ( damn I miss Fruit Loops !!) Anyway heres the infamy.
Celebrating birthdays today are:
Jay ” Who!” Kleven (1949)
Pitcher ( and Buffalo native) Kevin Kobel (1953) – He was one of the few bright spots on some putrid Met teams from the late ’70′s
Much maligned relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis is 36 (1973). The best thing I can say about Scott is that he always tried his best and never loafed – even in that last game you saw that he was visibly upset with his performance even though he gave a Tom Glavineesque excuse about not ” being devastated” My thoughts and well wishes go out to him and his family since his wife’s untimely death.
Sadly on this day in 1991 the father of the New York Mets , Bill Shea passed away. He was a very generous man well liked by all , even though he came from blue blood stock he always related to the common man ( unlike Fred & Jeff Wilpon) Can we please at least call Citi Field William Shea Stadium at Citi Field??!!?? ( maybe that will exorcise the curse)
New York Mets traded pitcher Paul Siebert to the St. Louis Cardinals for Bob Coluccio on October 2, 1978.
Finally Fred & Jeff if you are reading thisPLEEEASEEEE FIRE JERRY & OMAR I BEG OF YOU !!! ILL EVEN RENEW MY PARTIAL PLAN NEXT YEAR !!!! – (that is if you slash my tickets by 20 % like you did with the full season ticket holders !)

I’ll be missing you by a day. I’m planning on going Sunday. Final Game tradition!

      This one we’ll win!

        Me too. wave.

Hey, what happened to the “prospect what are they good for”thread? Shows case as having posted, but it has disappeared.

Did Jerry infiltrate that thread too? I can see why he deleted it if the conclusion was they should play now and then.

    1. CaseStreet

I scheduled it for tomorrow instead.

Oh, for all those that thought Omar screwed up by not getting lowe? He had a ncie april, but overall has sucked this year. Nice for the braves, but POs me since he is on my fantasy team.

On MLBTR today there was a thread about how the Braves could be looking to dump him, and even some speculation that he could be waived to get rid of the contract!

If it is bad now, imagine having 3 more years at 15mill to go?

I thought Omar was right at the time for passing. A complete blockhead for signing Ollie, but right on Lowe.

Agreed. Lowe for 4 years, at that money? No thanks. I’m done with aging pitchers on long contracts.

Little bit of hope for Maine here tonight. 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, NO WALKS.
Velocity down a bit but he had it going on tonight.

Two HRs in the game too.

Yeah they were thinking of trying him at closer to free up his rotation spot. LOL. And you thought we overpaid for a closer.

The Mets have to lead the lead in having lead off triples and not scoring a run. A truly amazing thing to watch.

Kevin towers got the ad from sd. Any chance he replaces Omar?

    1. trs86

LOL, how good does it look if you get fired from SD? That’s certainly not a resume builder.

        New ownershipft

I know, but still it can’t look good. I don’t think he would be any better than Omar. No reason to think he would be.

murph man either giving a giant middle finger to Jerry, or cementing his future as a back up/utility man off the bench.

Wonder what position(s) he will play in winter ball?

Would be a heck of a strong player off the bench and maybe starting a couple games a week.

I saw on the “other” site that the Hammer man himself spoke to Evans, and was told he had “no idea” why he wasn’t playing!

ANything to make Jerry look bad, I am all for it.

I am willing to give him next year IF we really upgrade LF. However, if not then I have to think there may be something to Lennon’s report.

      1. stickguy

well, unless they are just planning to give the job to someone else on hand (carter?), they still have to accomplish the minor task of obtaining this new 1B. So not quite sure how they can so difinitively state it won’t be him, as opposed to something like they want to or hope to try and upgrade.
