Well so  I just woke up and read my e mails and what did I see ? 2 Emails from Stub Hub. One read :
Dear Mr. Rustyjr , there is still time to get your playoff/ World Series tickets from us ( I am paraphrasing here mind you ).
 The second e-mail was more on the lines of : Dear loser… We are sorry that your team blew chunks this season and that we accidentally sent you a email that was meant for a deserving Yankees fan. We apologize for any inconvenience we might have caused you ( snicker snicker ) during your long , cold off season. Sincerely , your lords and Masters here at Stub Hub.
Okay so now that I am am really steamed about the Philthies winning last night and getting this condecending message from Stub Hub I feel it’s the right time for some INFAMY !!!

Ironically the spare part in the Keith Hernandez for Neil Allen trade – pitcher Rick Ownbey , is 52 (1957) Rick Ownby was to my recollection was alot like Mike Scott, He had a good fastball but he didn’t know how to use it. Whereas later on Mike Scott was able to evolve as a pitcher ( oh he also doctored the ball!!) Ownby never quite caught on in two partial seasons with the St Louis Cardinals.
Pitcher from the ’94 season – New Yorks own – Jonathan Hurst is 43 (1966) .
Sadly on this date two Mets coaches passed away . First was coach of the ’64 team and once was a decent pitcher for the Cleveland Indians – Mel Harder in 2002
and bench coach from the ’90′S – Chuck Hiller in 2004.
New York Mets traded pitcher Al Jackson and outfielder Charley Smith to the St. Louis Cardinals for infielder Ken Boyer on October 20, 1965.
New York Mets sold pitcher Larry Bearnarth to the Milwaukee Brewers on October 20, 1970.
New York Mets sold pitcher Ron Taylor to the Montreal Expos on October 20, 1971.
Okay so lets think some happy thoughts ….. Mo Vaughn is not a Met, Brian Schneider will no longer be a Met ! And Opening Day is only 167 days away !!!

The Dodgers are just not cooperating. I don’t know what it is with the closers in this post season but most of them have blown these games in the last inning.
At least the Angels pulled out a win in extras earlier….

The worst part is that every team playing the Phillies feels like the Mets in my mind. So I get to watch my team lose over and over and over again.
Hopefully the Yankees/Angels can put an end to the misery. Phuck the Phillies!

Ha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. Watching these games, especially the NL series, it’s drumming up anxiety we all put to rest back in June with this team. It’s like it’s the Mets I’m watching opposing the Phillies instead of the Dodgers. After watching last night, I honestly am contemplating not watching much of the WS if it’s the Yankees/Phils. Can you imagine? It’s a lose/lose situation all the way around….

Not me. I have no problem admiting they were better than the Mets THIS year. I have lots of hope as always for next year. Of course I am rooting against them but if they win it’s not unlike seeing UNC win a basketball game for me. Don’t like it but crap happens when a team you don’t like is good.

Just saying that the Phillies winning while it bothers me because I don’t like them, it does not effect me like it would if the Mets were playing and losing.

Seriously, last night hurt. You just knew the Phils were going to come back. That’s why you saw all the Dodgers pacing around. They knew it too.
And it seemed so easy too. Walk Stairs on 4 pitches, hit Ruiz on the first pitch and give up the game winner to Rollins on 3 pitches. So all it took was 8 pitches from the 100+ mph Giant, Broxton, to give us Phillies haters another Punch in the Gut.
I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of rooting for the Yanks to win, cuz at least I know they’ll beat the Phils. Anaheim would prob just roll over.

Do you ever get tired of factual errors? I was reading another blog, not MCBlog this time, and again the misconception comes up that if the Mets sign a type A they lose 2 first round picks.
For 1: No matter what you only give up one pick. How can you give up a compensation pick that does not exist?
For 2: The Mets have a protected 1st rounder and would only give up what is next in line, which can’t be their compensation pick if they were to have one. So if the Mets sign Lackey and give up their 2nd round pick, if they sign another type A they only lose their 3rd round pick.
