I hope this is just a rumor or misinformation:
Jon Heyman tweeted that the Mets will not go after top free agent pitcher John Lackey.
‘Now that is suprising. I truly thought the Mets would go after Lackey. Does that mean that the Mets do not have the money like we fans originally thought, or will Matt Holliday cost that much?’

I highly doubt that. Omar is all about pitching and he’s said they need a pitcher behind Ollie. This is just part of the PR game that will drive us crazy until Lackey is signed. Of course then we’ll hear how Lackey wanted to be a Yankee or some other crap. In the end, there’s really no reason why Lackey shouldn’t be a Met.

Not for nothing but these twitter posts are just getting out of hand. You have Jon Heyman using words like “sounds like” to describe Mets wont go after Lackey and Bart Hubbuch saying on twitter
“The Mets won’t be pursuing Cuban defector Aroldis Chapman after being told he wants up to $60 million to sign.”
If this a legitimate story with teeth don’t you think it would be posted in a news article and not some twitter feed?
This is just speculation to muster up hits on their twitter accounts. You have blogs writing this stuff like its breaking news. I swear sometimes I just think we are jumping thru hoops.
