New York Makes It To The “Fall Classic”

Today New York will be represented in the World Series but it’s just not the N.Y. team I was hoping for.

In any event while I can’t say I am happy to see the 2 teams that will play each other in the World Series.

Let me say Congratulations to the Yankees & Phillies on making it to the

“Fall Classic”

“Go Mets in 2010″

Well, congrats to the Yankees. Here’s hoping for some good baseball in this WS. I’ve stopped caring about who’s gonna win this matchup. I wanna see good baseball, then watch the Mets stop embarrassing all of us next season.

Well, I can certainly get behin darknova’s last statement.
I still think though this is Met fans worst nightmare fully realized.
So let’s just get it over with……Yankees in 4.

    1. prismo

Yankees in 7! I want ONE exciting series in the playoffs.

      1. darknova306

Agreed. The greatest thing in sports, in my opinion, is a hard-fought 7 game World Series. Whichever team wins it will deserve it, but I want to see a series similar to the 06 NLCS with all the lead changes and intensity of play. Baseball the way it was meant to be played. If I had to pick a side, I’d go with Yanks in 7 just to show that NYC is better than any other city. :p

Alright, Omar, the countdown to the beginning of your final hot stove season as a Met is hopefully very short. Be prepared, you son of a….

So right MF4D–Phils in 4 and let’s get on with the offseason already!

      :-)

      1. metsfan4decades

Ha! It’s really almost 6 one, half dozen of the other for me.
Almost….you know I gotta go Yanks on this one, as much as that annoys me….
I truly don’t see Phils pitching out dueling Yanks hitting in this series..

And I don’t know if anyone watched the Yanks/Angels series but man, don’t know what happened to that Angels team playing in that series. They almost reminded me of the Mets all season. Mental mistakes, bad base running and errors – 2 in the bottom of the 8th alone just about sealed their fate. And their offense just disappeared.
We did that all season, we were basically called crap and the manager clueless. Angels do it and the excuse is ‘being too aggressive trying to make something happen’….

Here’s hoping that the field opens up and swallows all those bastards.

Now that’s what I am talking about. Why do I have to root for either of these teams? I don’t want either of them to win, will be upset if either do, and will not care if either don’t. At this point my attachment to this year’s baseball season is over.

      1. saltygary

Yea folks are trying too hard to be positive and classy when talking about other teams. We need a attitude shift around here. If it’s any team not the Met’s, then F’em. I don’t care how bad the Mets have been, they still rule and the rest are garbage.

Want to be classy about the Phils, then send your love to the NL East Chatter Phils site. I am sure the will graciously accept your humble offerings.

        1. trs86

I will stay classy but I don’t understand at all the need for me to root for them.

  4. dirtysanchez

Well…as a baseball fan, these two are really the best in their leagues and mlb got it right. As a Met fan, i could care less who wins and will be focusing on football full time(go Gmen). If i HAD to pick one though, id have to go with the yanks. In no situation can i think of to root for the phillies…

    1. trs86

      Agreed, sent you an email.

  5. CaseStreet

Here’s hoping the Phils embarrass the Yanks and then embarrass themselves by mentioning the Mets.

    1. trs86

I don’t know how you guys do it. I can’t root for either, but especially not the Phillies.

      1. CaseStreet

I just have a longer memory. The Phillies rivalry is recent and in some ways fake. Plus, I don’t know any Phillies fans while I’m surrounded by Yankees fans.

  6. khmustache

what a horrible series huh? i’ve been trying my hardest to ignore baseball this past month, but i haven’t missed a world series in 20 years (even saw the 3 i should have missed while i was in the navy), so i have to watch this one too. now i just gotta find a team to root for.

i think the tipping points for me are these: root for pedro, or root for a-rod. i know that sounds weird as a mets fan.

at the beginning of the season the selena roberts hatchet job really, really bothered me. i thought it careless, mean-spirited and callous. i know it’s a fools mission to try to feel “sorry” for the richest player in baseball history, but, i do think it was unfair.

in the end, i’d rather see someone who has never been a champion experience that, rather than seeing an old friend wearing the wrong colors…

    so..

    lets go yankees….

    i just threw up a little…

    1. trs86

Agree about Pedro. Can’t say lets go Yankees or Phillies. LOL.

  7. whataputz

Go Phillies! I know literally 1 Philly fan, and thousands of annoying Yankees fans. I will never be able to hate the Phillies more than the Yankees.

    1. saltygary

Hang out at Citizens park a couple times and I bet you will have a different opinion.

  8. trs86

One thing that may turn me is the damn bandwagon Phillies fans in my area. So many here hate everythign NY so now the Phillies are America’s team. The anti-NY bias down here is always impressive.

  9. CaseStreet

So Pedro might start game 2. Does that say more about Pedro or Hamels or how the parks play?

    1. trs86

Or how much confidence they have in Lee?

      1. trs86

And as you said Hamels. Letting that disaster pitch in Yankee Stadium would be uhm a disaster.

        1. metsfan4decades

I don’t care where Hamels pitches in this series. I can’t see him keeping those Yankee runs off the board.

His numbers weren’t that great all season and he certainly hasn’t looked good this post season either.

  10. CaseStreet

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

    1. trs86

Uh… well that clears things up.

  11. steveo

The phillies in 7 long 17 inning injury plauged, snow ridden games with at least 4 benchclearing brawls

  12. prismo

Cliff Lee’s already pitched 231 innings this season and has 2-3 more games to start. With any luck his arm will be completely worn out for 2010.

  13. stickguy

I am with TRS. I will “root” for neither team. I will probably watch though from time to time to see if anything interesting happens.

But, if I had to choose, the “best” outcome for me is the Yankees win (since I am in philly country). And man, it has already been incredibly annoying down here, and with the WS starting, it will be getting much, much worse.

I also want this to be a complete and utter blowout (no matter which team wins). Get it over with quick, and ugly.

really, the only fun will be seeing one of these teams losing ugly, along with indivudual players having horrible performances.

Forget about a 7 game classic series. I want 4 ugly, ugly games. Errors, bonehead plays, terrible pitching. Yo uname it, if it will embarrass someone (maybe even Selig!), I want it.

I hope this goes down in history as the worst WS ever played.

Not that I am letting it annoy me or anything… Must be the Giants still pissing me off from last night.

    1. trs86

Agreed, I want to be able to at least rub it in someones face that they got swept. Not much to root for and all they have to ask is where were your Mets but at least it gives us anything.

      1. darknova306

We’re not in the position to rub anything in anyone’s face. The Yankees have been a far better team than the Mets over the past 15-ish years while trouncing us in their last WS victory. The Phillies are defending champs. Even if one of them gets swept, they’ve still got more o rip on us for than vice-versa. Better to get swept in the WS than to choke, or spend a whole season playing embarrassing baseball (regardless of injuries).

Stop worrying about other teams. Who cares about them or their fans, the only thing that matters is our team getting their own business taken care of.

        1. stickguy

common, you don’t think it will be enjoyable to watch one of these fan bases go nuts, ragging on the team for playing like crap and disappearing in the WS? I think it is the only possible positive outcome.

actually, there is 1 more: Yanks win, and A Rod and Teixera both blow out their knees when CC jumps on top of them in the post game pile-on

        2. mrbill

          Well said Darknova…

        3. trs86

“Not much to root for and all they have to ask is where were your Mets but at least it gives us anything.”
