"It is high, it is far, it is...caught."
Since the Mets pursuit of marginal catchers seems to have slowed, we as Met fans need some activity with which to pass our Winter Meetings time.
I freely admit to stealing this idea from Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Now that Curtis Granderson is a member of the New York Yankees, how will unparalleled radio announcer John Sterling call a Curtis Granderson home run?

Not the byproduct of nuclear fallout
For those of you who don’t know, Sterling has a signature call for almost every batter. For example, a Hideki Matsui home run was ‘a thrilla by Godzilla’ or an Alex Rodriguez home run was ‘an A-bomb from A-Rod.’

The precursor of nuclear fallout
By the way, despite these examples the call does not have to be related to atomic bombs or radiation.
So what will a Granderson homer call be? Please leave your thoughts in the comments.

I really was pro-Church, but I would much rather see what Frenchy can do every day for a year.
I think Church seems to be the kind of guy who finds ways to screw himself; but Jerry the Joker surely was no help.
Just saw that we might be in on the bidding for Mike Gonzalez–would he be the ideal compliment for KRod or what?

Yea I want to see the French man day to day as well. The guy has a great attitude and I think he will be a positive next season.
Jerry was no help to Church what so ever, it wasn’t right. But Church might need to change his approach. He has such a long swing but doesn’t have enough bat speed especially for the lefties. Hopefully he can turn it around.

Agree with every word. Church’s swing kills him except for when he is on one of his infrequent hot streaks; and I was very pro-Church a year ago.
Jerry is awful, and was awful to Church; I hope Church goes somewhere new and turns it around and has a good career.

I agree, I was really thinking more of Churchie as replacing Sullivan or Pagan if he does get sent for DeJesus and then being able to provide a LH bat off the bench.
Jerry is a killer, at least Willie said the right things about his players, Jerry just thrown em under the bus, “Murphy will be a good player some day” (I’m paraphrasing here)
Gonz would be ideal, plus it’ll screw the Braves cuz they’d only get at best our 2nd round pick or 3rd if we do sign Lackey or Holliday.

Wow, did not even occur to me to get Church back as a 4th OF….that would actually be fantastic if Pagan goes; excellent idea!
And you most likely know how I feel about Jerry. He suxxx.
Nets 2-1 in our last three..if you throw out those first 18 games, we look pretty good.

instead of overpaying for Holliday or taking on a bad contract for Badley, Pat or Pierre, would it be crazy to have Pagan and Church compete for LF, so you can spend all your money on SPing and leave money for a mid-year trade?
I’d prefer Cameron, but as a backup plan, I’d consider Church instead of Byrd, Wynn, etc.

Personally, I love the idea.
I wonder though if Church was really disliked in the locker room as rumor had it.

I don’t want Church near this team.
Think about this
The Nats would not play him full-time and had reservations about his commitment level. He did not get along with his manager.
The Mets would not play him full-time and had reservations about his commitment level. He did not get along with his manager.
The Braves would not play him full-time and released him instead of paying him a small salary to play part time.
I liked Church but there is something wrong there.

I agree there is clearly something wrong there.
But, as a platoon player who never saw a lefty and as a defensive replacement?
I think it is an interesting idea, and one which there is about a 1% chance of happening!

My wonder is how much does he pout if he is not playing and does he damage a clubhouse? I still would think considering his splits and the fact the Braves need OF’s they would have kept him if something was not up.

To me I take Pagan or heck even Sullivan who would at least did well in that role.

Cannot argue at all.
Truthfully, I really thought he was going to bloom into a serious player last year.
Maybe it is the injuries, maybe, as you say, there is just something really wrong.
