Yesterday it was rumored that the Cards had offered Holliday a contract that could total 128 million. However, today reports from Buster Olney state otherwise: Sources: Cards leaning to 5-year offer
“The Cardinals continue to talk about re-signing outfielder Matt Holliday, and in their internal deliberations, the intention is to stand on a five-year offer, sources said.”
“It’s always possible the Cardinals could alter their offer to Holliday, and add to it. But there is sentiment within the organization that St. Louis isn’t competing with a lot of teams — if any — for Holliday’s services at the level where the Cardinals are.”
In other words if the Mets want Holliday then they are very much still in the discussion. So please relax with the “Mets won’t get anybody junk and enjoy one of the most exciting times in baseball.”

Says the guy who likes to bust my balls.
LOL.
But I guess that is true that I report rumors. Kind of what we do here. Report rumors and put our opinions in. I usually try and make sure it is widely known that those are just rumors and we don’t have much else to go on. I also try and read as many sources as possible.

Speaking of reporting rumors, Anthony DiComo of mlb.com has this quote from Omar Minaya:
“We have time to go. I do feel comfortable that when we get to Opening Day, we’re going to have a good team.”

Hmmm. You could read that 2 ways. One you could say he is comfortable and relaxed. Two you could say he is feeling pressure and trying to defend himself.

I wouldn’t expect him to say anything else.
