This could get ugly in a hurry. Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker (courtesy of MLBTR) says according to a Japanese article, the Red Sox are in lead for Igarashi’s services. They’ve offered him a 2 year, $2-3MM contract.
Not that anyone was drooling over Igarashi…but this could be just downright embarrassing for the Mets. I only have one thing to say and it’s in Japanese. KUSO!!!!
Update:Â MLBTR has updated with the following at 8:42: Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post spoke with a Mets official who is still confident the Mets will sign Igarashi. Hubbuch adds that the two sides are “still in talks” and that “nothing is imminent.”

it’s official now. I am shutting down the PC and going to bed for 2 months.
since once again, if he goes to the Sox, it will suddenly be an Omar failure to get the top player available.
same people will, however, complain if he pays 2-3 million for a BP guy of course.

To Igarashi or not to Igarashi. That is the question.

Well at least we can all giggle childishly at the headline “Mets to play waiting game with Wang”

Contrary to reports in New York, Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker cites a Japanese media report that the Red Sox are in the lead for the services of right-hander Ryota Igarashi.
According to a Sponichi.com report, the Red Sox have offered a two-year contract worth $2-3 million. The Mets are believed to have offered a two-year contract, as well, though terms have not been revealed. A possible advantage for the Red Sox, according to Newman, is that Igarashi is currently training with Daisuke Matsuzaka in Arizona. Igarashi, 30, is known as one of the hardest throwing pitchers in Japan, but he has yet to perfect his command. He’ll likely contribute as a set-up man in the majors.

Again, WHY!…Why is EVERYTHING drama
with this team and especially this
GM???….Every little thing the past
few seasons.
I repeat my words of a month ago….
Get ready for our two big signings…
Bengie Molina and Jon Garland.
Then get ready for the mush mouth,
jive talkin’,dog and pony show in which Omar will convince many fans
that “With our key guys back,Molina
helping guys like Ollie,Maine&Pelf,
plus the quality innings we’ll get
outta Garland,we’ll push the Phillies
for the division!”
“juunowatemsayin’?”

Now MLBTR is showing that Mets are again near a deal for Igarashi. I’d like to get a good definition of what “near” means these days.

Again we rush to judge even over a 2 million dollar 30 year old Japanese reliever. I hope we get him and he is lights out but man we need to settle down.

just made the mistake of reading the comments to the back to back Mets threads on MLBTR. I think I became dumber just by osmosis.
I cant decide which group is stupider and more obnoxious. the Met Fans, or the haters that like to egg them on!

what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Uh, I have to agree with Stickguy here.
After catching up on all posts here today, I go over to MLBTR to read the Mets Offseason post. Here’s just a sampling of the idiotic posts:
********************************
ok, i’ll start.
they should take a page from the nl-champion phillies’ playbook. here’s how that looks:
trade johan santana for cc sabathia
trade k-rod for papelbon
release luis castillo.
sign orlando hudson for 4 years/$36mm
trade jose reyes for jimmy rollins
trade david wright for mike lowell
trade carlos beltran for curtis granderson
win pennant.
profit.
that was easy. next question.
***************************
I’m still trying to decide if this poster is for real or not…..

Yes, I knew you were kidding, but you managed to do it in a very serious way!
I managed to avoid ever seeing Billy Madison. Maybe that’s the problem.
