Looks like Orlando Odawg Gritty McHudson Hudson will be left out in the cold again this year. We have discussed this guys merits and lack there of in depth on TRDM. However, it appears that Hudson still wants to be on the Mets and for a second winter the Mets want him as well but they can’t move Castillo.
Today I am proposing, do it anyway. The Phillies considered Hudson an option for 3rd base. Not as a backup but as a starter having never played the position in the majors. So there is your backup 3rd baseman. Hudson is a switch hitter and hit well from the RH side last year. There is your platoon guy with Murphy or Delgado. I see no reason he could not play a decent 1B. Obviously he would also be able to backup Castillo at 2B. What would I give him? 2 year deal with a 3rd year option. 3, 5, 7 with a a 2 million buyout. If he really wants to be on the Mets that should work. Interesting that in his minor league career he has played 3B and a little LF a long time ago.  Of course signing him back loaded also allows you to eat more cash to dump Castillo.
You could see a very potent lineup:
Reyes, Hudson, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Delgado, Frenchy, Molina
So what do you guys think? With guys like Garko most likely looking for 3 million would spending the extra couple of million on Hudson be a good idea?
