“Keepin It Real” today is Ed Ryan from Metsfever who was man enough to admit having a change of heart even if it’s ever so slightly on wanting Melvin Mora to be a Met.
“I’ll relent just slightly from that stance, if Mora understood he was coming in to replace Tatis on the bench and they felt it was a good situation because of his friendships with players on the team, then I could understand bringing him in. Mora is a solid defender at multiple positions and in just 2008 hit .285/ OBP .342 and Slg. .358.”
Another item that can also be described as pulled from the files of TheSmokingGun.com depending on who you talk to is Eduardo Perez from Eli From Brooklyn who was definitely “Keepin It Real” when he wrapped up his conspiracy theory on Minaya & Francesa with the following.
“Simply put, Mike has become Omar’s mouthpiece to influence the NY audience and Met fans thinking.”
Finally in what may be a rare event Matthew Cerrone from MetsBlog the Official Blog of the NY Mets actually put himself out there and therefore was “Keepin It Real” by suggesting the Mets closer KROD a year into his contract is someone that the Mets, well I’ll let you read it.
“I think the Mets have legit concerns about Francisco Rodriguez, and I would think a pitcher like Smoltz could not only pick up slack in the rotation, but he could also step in and finish games.”

I don’t get the mindset of signing Smoltz for the BP.
We tried that signing of two closers mindset last year and how did that work out? Smoltz is years older than Putz and potential for him to stay healthy the whole season is about zilch, IMO.
Insurance for KRod? If we’re going to do that, I would think we’d be looking to add someone whose health isn’t such a question mark, who isn’t going to be as expensive and I think Smoltz will be and who is a lefty…..

Agreed on the lefty comment. BP definitely needs one more of those.
As for Smoltz, I would take him, for sure. Versatility, experience, a little mentoring for the kids. Obviously would have to be a smart deal money wise, but with Parnell not a sure shot for the pen and there are still 2 slots open after that(with Misch/Figgy types penciled into one of those for now), Smoltz would not be a bad addition.
