Ken Rosenthal and Mike Morosi of Fox Sports are reporting that free agent outfielder, and former Met Xavier Nady is ahead of schedule and will be ready for spring training next month.
Xavier Nady’s agent , Scott Boras said in a e-mail that following his second Tommy John surgery , that he is “on schedule to be ready in spring training†.
Boras’ statement went on to say that “The doctors have his throwing program ahead of schedule,†.
I think that the Mets should take a gamble on the X-Man . He has ( had?) a cannon of an arm , he can play all three outfield positions as well as first base – which should come in handy if and when Carlos Beltran comes back, and he would be a late inning threat coming off the bench.
Lets just hope Omar is keeping an eye on this situation.

Throw him the pile of potentially useful pieces, assuming he’s healthy (I need to set up my computer so it just adds the phrase “assuming he’s healthy” to everything I type).

You’d think someone would tell him there are more phrases he could you that would get the same results as the phrase “from what I can gather” like as far as I can tell or according to my understanding or they way I understand it.

As soon as his brother got traded there that seemed inevitable. I think the Mets believe their “super Joe” position is all wrapped up between Russ Adams and Jolbert Cabrera.

Of all the bench guys we have discussed recently, X makes the most sense as a guy who is capable of playing everyday or as a substitute in two questionable positions, RF or 1B.
I’m not real concerned about his throwing elbow because he doesn’t need the same feel and accuracy of a pitcher returning from TJ.
Nady doesn’t have much experience in CF (45 games), though.
