Mets HOF Inductees Announced: Staw, Doc, Davey and Frank

According to Adam Rubin’s Surfing the Mets: “The Mets are having a conference call at 2 p.m. today to announce that Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Davey Johnson and Frank Cashen will be inducted into the Mets’ Hall of Fame. It’s the first time in eight years that they’ve made an induction and certainly a step toward addressing what some believe is a lack of appreciation for their own history at Citi Field.”

First Frenchy on a short, reasonable, team friendly contract and now team HOF inductions. The organization is on a roll of doing something right! While they’re hot I hope they surprise me with a viable starting pitcher. Am I asking too much?

      Maybe?
I think the Mets are playing the SP and Catcher game right. After Lackey, which was not going to happen, which guy would you like to run out and sign? They are all about the same to me. So wait it out and find this year’s Garland, maybe Garland himself. As for Catcher same thing. If Molina comes on our terms, so be it. If not then we move on with Santos, Coste, Blanco and Thole.

I’m in a good Mets-mood this morning based on actual actions the organization has undertaken. I am praising them and acknowledging that they are on a roll, and asking/hoping that it continues. Why are you trying to bring me down with your practicality?

LOL, Sorry. LGM WS in 2010.

Hmmm….the timing is really suspect on this, don’t you think?

It’s as if the PR heads for the Mets are trying to come up with anything to put the Mets in some kind of positive light, for the fan base.

Sorry…it’s just the cynic in me……

No doubt things like this are done all the time.

It doesn’t matter if you’re right or wrong, either way it’s what the organization SHOULD be doing. They should focus on positives and keep the negatives under wraps.

You’ll get no argument from me there.

Would have been nice though had they resurrected the induction into the Mets HOF last year, for Citi’s first season, especially in light of the fans disappointment with lack of Mets stuff at their new home. Then again, I’m sure the wheels of this type thing typically move slowly – unless it’s deemed a priority, to counteract some fire going on…..

What? No Mike Piazza? I’m mad as hell (sarcasm)

    1. GravediggerHebner

Yeah if they’re just getting to this group now, we can expect Piazza in roughly 2036.

      1. wannybackstra

Well, maybe longer if the HOF decides to bronze Mike in a Dodgers cap.

        1. CaseStreet

don’t you mean sooner? (I kid)

    2. Mr North Jersey

LoL, on the flipside inducting all these guys now at the same time means its all downhill from here. Who de we induct next year, Piazza all by himself? (sarcasm)

It actually was long overdue. Will they be able to fit all 25 Met Hall Of Famers in the former Gift Shop now soon to be Mets Hall Of Fame?
