Those are hot looking, thanks for creating and sharing them Mr. NJ.

Does it mean anything that they are all spades and does it involve shooting the moon?

You know I was debating what to use. I thought do I go with Clubs because we could use the luck or Diamonds because of the payroll. Heart for the obvious reason that we need it but in the end I decided to go with Spades because my understanding is that Spades are the top cards and well I’d like to think we can be the top team.

      1. Mr North Jersey

Let me rephrase that. Heart because we can use as much as we can get.

I’m not a big card player so I was curious what if any reason you had for choosing them, thank you for elaborating.

They look great I already have Johan on my desktop.

            Thx 4 da Comp Grave

Hey, no Beltran? First he’s missing from the Mets Desktop Wallpaper and now this. I smell a conspiracy!

    1. Mr North Jersey

LoL I was saying the same thing. I need to get a nice res Photo of Beltran so I can have 5 which I think in poker is a Flush.

    2. CaseStreet

oh, I see. I’ve also changed my wallpaper to the Ace of Spades Santana.

The notion of the Mets being the clearly worst team in the context of the off season has taken a hit from (gasp!) Jayson Stark and ESPN. Not only did “20 experts” not think the Mets were clear cut winners of worst off season but when you get to the last sentence you see 9 of the 16 NL teams got votes for “worst”:

    “Most Unimproved Team (NL)

    1. Dodgers
    2. Pirates
    3. Mets

No team has beaten out the Pirates in this prestigious portion of our poll since 2007. But the Dodgers pulled it off this year, thanks pretty much entirely to the “Divorce Court” soap opera currently swallowing up life both inside and outside their owner’s box. Frank McCourt keeps insisting that his divorce isn’t affecting the operation of his team. But two years ago, the Dodgers’ payroll was nearly $119 million when the season started, and about $122 million when it ended. Now it’s almost $40 million lower, even though this team has topped 3.7 million in attendance (and made the playoffs) in two straight seasons.

So GM Ned Colletti was forced to shop on the cheap all winter, for every Russ Ortiz and Luis Ayala he could scoop out of the bargain bin — and couldn’t even take a chance on offering arbitration to Randy Wolf, Jon Garland or Orlando Hudson. Tough way to run a marquee franchise.

Fun poll fact: Competition in this section of the poll was so feverish that nine different NL teams got votes (Dodgers, Pirates, Mets, Astros, Padres, Cubs, Marlins, Braves and Cardinals).”

This makes no sense. Most unimproved seems to be fairly straight forward. If you got better you improved. Stayed the same you didn’t. Got worse is obvious.

It doesn’t seem to mean relative to what some people thought you needed to do, is it?

So how could the Marlins, tht did nothing, and the Padres, that barely treaded water, be “more improved” than the mets that added Bay and 5 catchers? Just Bay alone, if that was the only move, should put the Mets ahead of at least 10 other teams! Cleveland went backwards, so isn’t that more unimproved than the Mets?

        Logic.

Very cool. Better than baseball cards. Thanks for sharing.
Ya’al know what my new wallpaper is. Now to decide which one I want to figure prominently since I like them all.

    1. Mr North Jersey

      Lemme Guess, Reyes? :-)

      1. metsfan4decades

Still trying to make my mind up between Reyes or Johan. Very close…
I’ve downloaded them all so maybe I’ll just switch to Johan on days he’s pitching – since I’m usually watching the game on my PC anyway….

  6. prismo

I’m certainly impressed by your Photoshop skills, as always, MrJerz.

So I’m bored killing time waiting to walk the dog by listening to old “SModcasts” and reading old tweets and I came across this from Peter Gammons a few days ago:

    # so if Mejia, Martinez, Niese, Holt, Davis and Thole make CitiField this summer, how can the Mets’ system be so bad? 5:47 AM Feb 13th from web

    Interesting question Peter.

    1. Mr North Jersey

I remember reading that and someone replying wasn’t Gammons the same guy that was killing the Mets farm this off season?
