Clearly they’ve solved the communication problem with the medical and training staff through signage.

Is that the new Takahashi next to Ollie in the video?

      1. Mr North Jersey

He’s a lefty so yea I think that is Takahishi.

LOL – saw that earlier somewhere.

Can’t believe they put that up. Just goes to show you that someone reads these blogs and such more than they’re willing to admit….

Taking a Page from The Mets Shield in trying to recreate it. I think I nailed it.

And it only cost them $6,000,000? Guess that doesn’t go as far these days. Can’t even buy you a decent Molina.

    Nice, smooth delivery watching Ollie.
No side armed experiments, dipping way low, lifting arms way high.
    Back to basics for Oliver?

Please sir, may I have some more?

Repetition of delivery is something Perez has struggling with, both mentally and physically, in the past. It’s something Peterson tried to focus on, to some measure of success. If he’s finally learned the importance of it, that’s great news and a big assist to Beltran and the Mets for sending him to ‘pitching camp’ this offseason. I’ll leave off the inditement of Warthen for not being able to handle him (okay, maybe not)

That said, it’s just a bullpen session and we’ll see how he pitches in a game if he can repeat motion and control himself a bit.

True, concerning it’s just a BP session and one of the first at that.

I’m just grabbing at straws here, looking for all the positives I can. Especially since I was one of the very small majority that wanted Omar to resign Ollie.
(I know, what was I thinking???)

        1. ceetar

I didn’t mind the resigning. I think Omar may have been shortsighted in not looking into someone else, but I didn’t want Lowe.

          btw, some tid-bits from today:

heard on WFAN that single game tickets go on sale March 7th. (that be sunday)

first Spring broardcast is Tuesday march 2nd. Gary Keith and Ron, are generally pretty entertaining on these broadcasts. And while the games aren’t always that interesting beyond the first couple of innings, sometimes you get some fun stuff.

          1. metsfan4decades

I didn’t want Lowe either, especially for 4 years.

I cannot wait for the first game, even though it’s ST….

I was ecstatic when Ollie was finally going to leave for free agency, but then Omar stabbed me in the back and twisted the knife.

In the end, given the situation we were in at the time with the FAs that were out there, we kinda had to re-sign him (and pray really really hard). Still, that doesn’t make me not hate the sight of him.

          1. metsfan4decades

Think we’re all still praying. If Ollie doesn’t put it together this year, I don’t think he ever will.

It’s good to see him looking fit. But I will hold my judgment on him till the regular season… Hope he will be more consistent.

Pelfrey on HotStove said he has a split changeup that right now he feels more comfortable with it than his curveball.

That could be a very good thing. Give the batters something different to worry about maybe. And help get some K’s on the lefties.

Actually, one thing that all the rotation haters forget is that they are relatively young in BB terms. Not really ollie, since he came up so early.

But Pelf and Maine are relatively inexperienced and at the stage where they easily can master some of the finer points, and add a new pitch or 2 to the arsenal.

Maine lost most of 2 years with the shoulder at the worst possible time. I honestly think, based on how he looked in ST and early 2008 that he was going to become a really, really good SP. At least good enough that people wouldn’t have been crying for Lackey to add a #2 to the rotation. And if his shoulder is back to 100%, he still could.

There is a reason guys tend to peak at around 27-30, right where 80% of the projected rotation (inclduing Neive) are. And Santana is still OK for an old guy!
