Fred Speaks !!!

Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News had conducted a interview with mets owner Fred Wilpon which you can read here http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/mets/

I found the interview with Fred to be very insightful. He seems to care about the Mets and called this past off season ” torture”. He also claims he is a Mets fans and feels the frustration of the common fan, But where Fred loses me is when he said that the Mets have ” one of the best medical staffs in all of baseball “. I don’t know if he was referring to the Hospital for Special Surgery or the Mets training staff itself, but Fred comes across as being a bit delusional on that topic in my opinion. I also have to take Fred’s noncommittal answer to the security of Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel’s jobs as being a subtle way of saying if this is a repeat of last season then they are gone.

” Fred sez the Mets will be owned by the Wilpons for future generations  – OY !”

Anything on Delgado Surgery just crossing the wires? Yeah, he’ll be back in 4 months.

The Met’s Medical Staff the debate that keeps giving. Knowing the affiliation with the Hospital for Special Surgery is what made this baffling to me last season. That is a top flight Hospital from what I understood. Then came the Giants Football season and their myriad of injuries on Defense and their inability to get back on the field. And the common denominator of their affiliation with the Hospital for Special Surgery. Has this place lost it’s capacity to diagnose and treat sports injuries? Compare Kenny Phillips injury to Carlos Beltran and the need for micro-surgery or not debate that lingered in both cases. I’m out of my element here but if not this Hospital where would they go in the NY area? I’ll chalk up last season as an anomoly and hope for health this year while bracing for the knife.

As for Fred, well I won’t even start this time.

    Where’s the barajas post?

Good deal for the mets. Now what about one more starter?

    Busy Saturday….

    Barajas said yes.

Delgado sounds about done. (is that another injury that might have been initially misdiagnosed or treatment not quite correct?)

And per Fred, I guess the Mets are not broke, as some previously reported.
Reading between the lines, I don’t think Omar’s job is very safe….
