Speaking of lineups, this is today’s

According to a tweet from Steve Popper today’s Mets lineup is:

  • Angel Pagan – CF
  • Alex Cora – 2B
  • Daniel Murphy  – 1B
  • Fernando Tatis – 3B
  • Fernando Martinez – LF
  • Rod Barajas – C
  • Frank Catalanotto – DH
  • Russ Adams – SS
  • Kirk Nieuwenhuis – RF
  • Pat Misch – SP

No positions were noted but given that’s 10 guys I’ll assume one of them is the DH.

Updating with positions thanks to The ‘Ropolitans.

Looks kind of like a line up from last September…

LOL, I think this one is better.

Learning from what you did last spring over at the other place I have found the gameday link and included it in the post.

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing!

Man, if our lineup looks like this at any point in the season, something went very wrong.

Still, Nice outfield w/ Fernando, Angel and Kirk.

Thanks much for the Gameday link!

Even though he has haunted the Mets over two decades, you gotta love Bobby Cox. One of the GKR guys commented that Cox has said that he’s not a sitting duck this year he will argue balls/strikes and go out to scream at umps, etc…

But I still wish he would be retired at the end of September.

Just read an article where the reason Wagner wound up with the Braves was strictly b/c of Bobby Cox. When his agent said the Braves were interested, Wagner said no thanks. Cox came out to his ranch personally to talk to him. That’s what turned the tide in Braves favor.

Wagner said Cox gave him a gift of a belt buckle. But then found out the Braves have a ‘no jeans’ policy. So Wagner says ‘Well, how am I gonna wear that belt buckle’?

Misch looking pretty good today. 3 innings 1 hit 2 walks and no runs.

    1. trs86

More interesting is his GB/FB ratio. 8/1.

  6. trs86

    Mets pitching today so far
4 innings 1 hit 3 walks. Not bad.

Russ Adams making a statement. After good opening day follows up today with a 2-2.

    1. metsfan4decades

Russ Adams….wasn’t even on my radar until yesterday.

      1. trs86

Nope but he has potential. Good guy to have in AAA but if he beats out Cat then so be it.

Mets aiming to sweep home-and-home with Braves. Take 4-0 lead in 6th on Cervenak RBI single, Fernando Martinez RBI triple, Thole RBI single. less than a minute ago via UberTwitter

I guess Gameday is really behind. Mine hasn’t started the 6th inning yet.

      1. trs86

Mine either. I think it waits until the inning is over?

  9. trs86

Eddie Kunz is pulled in 6th after surrendering four runs. Kunz walked first three batters, allows Heyward RBI double. … Stinson enters.

  10. trs86

Mets commit three straight errors in seventh, including 1b Ike Davis. Joe Thurston single against Josh Stinson then gives ATL 6-5 lead.

    1. trs86

      Sigh….
Four Mets errors in seventh, by Stinson, Thole, Davis and Hernandez. Two-run homer makes it Atlanta 9, Mets 5.

      1. metsfan4decades

        Nice – sigh…

Who the heck is Stinson anyway? And what was Kunz’s problem? Remember when he was supposedly going to be the heir apparent for Wagner? I’ll be surprised if Kunz actually ever gets a ML gig.

      2. GravediggerHebner

Two thoughts, the first less serious/relevant than the 2nd:

        1-everything was fine until Rubin mentioned the Mets going for the “sweep of the home-and-home” so thanks for the curse Adam;

2-all 4 errors were made by people not expected to make the club out of ST anyway so they concern me less than a ST error normally might which is not very much.

        1. trs86

I guess so. Funny though that the errors could be weighing on their minds. Almost like they snowballed because they got to thinking uh oh daddy’s gonna be mad for that error I hope I don’t screw up…

          1. GravediggerHebner

            Doh! :-)

I have read/heard a lot in the past about the hot Florida sun baking the infields which is why I don’t get too riled up about fielding errors, which according to Gameday is what Ike Davis’ was.

AHern’s was a throwing error so that would give me a bit of concern, and Stinson and Thole’s were both pickoffs so Stinson, I don’t even know who he is I don’t care about his, and Thole’s I file under “learning how/when to attempt pickoff throws.” Better now than in a game that counts.

          2. trs86

Obviously I did not see any of them so I can’t say. Just hope the emphasis on fielding does not produce what the emphasis on going the other way did.

Well, now that we’ve got a look-see at those most likely not to make the trip north these past two days, maybe we can get a look tomorrow at those who will. If it doesn’t rain….
