Can we all agree that if Santana gets shelled or if he pitches to perfection we will not go over board with it?

    Lets look for

    Movement: on his breaking stuff.
Control: how much will Blanco move his glove once he is has set the target.
Velocity: Can he get it up to 94mph?

    Does that sound about right?

    1. metsfan4decades

Sounds like a plan to me.

    2. trs86

I am not too concerned this early with the 94. His career average for his FB is 91.7.

  2. Mr North Jersey

Seems like mc spelled something wrong that garnered these comments.

Easy now – go easy on the ‘poor’ guy! He’s still ‘catching his breath’ from his trip!

Matt, you DO need an ‘editor!’

Be on the lookout they me be banished soon. 86mets last comment came 2 minutes later and none have been heard from since.

    1. trs86

He had it as his knee first.

  3. metsfan4decades

    First out K swinging.

Uh, where’s the radar gun, SNY?

  4. DNDJohan aka kistics

oh no!!! what’s going on with johan!!! ahhhhh!!!!

  5. Mr North Jersey

They just started showing the mph on his pitches after getting down 2-0

    1. metsfan4decades

You know, SNY ALWAYS does that. It’s like the guy with that graphic always forgets about the speed until the game has been started awhile.

  6. Mr North Jersey

seems like the changeup was moving nicely fooling a lot of hitters but fastball was like Darling said catching a lot of plate.

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

Is it time to panic yet???? It’s Johan or no playoffs this season!!!! pleaseeeeeeeee!!!

      1. Mr North Jersey

definite panic time you should go get your trade Santana for Adrian Gonzalez sign ready. lol

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

yes yes yes yes yes. let’s do that while johan has some value!!! mets eat the 90% of johan’s salary for gonzalez

          1. trs86

LOL, that’s a great idea. Lets pay Adrian Gonzalez 28M a year.

          2. Mr North Jersey

            I agree

  7. Mr North Jersey

I am sure he is just happy to be back on the mound.

    1. metsfan4decades

Well, I sure am happy to see him back on the mound……

  8. Mr North Jersey

wow sny cameras was looking for a foul ball on Matthews double.

  9. DNDJohan aka kistics

Well at least Johan is doing better than CC.

  10. stickguy

as long as his arm feels good, he is getting his extension, and he is smiling when he comes off the mound, I don’t care about the results.

Somehow I expect that Johan laying some FBs over the heart of the plate on 3/9 doesn’t meanhe wil be doing the same thing on opening day.

  11. Mr North Jersey

wow deep there you go Wright goes Right On!

  12. metsfan4decades

    DWright goes long.

  13. DNDJohan aka kistics

How is Myers looking? Is he wearing his wife-beater?

  14. Mr North Jersey

If the Mets get in a fight I want Jacobs on my team. He is huge!

  15. tkfj

Problem is while Johan os the man and will still be good, this year we will need great from him. Coming off an injury and with declining velocity, i dont know if we can expect great.

This doesnt necessarily pertain to today but in general.

    1. Mr North Jersey

“Just Win Baby” is all Santana has to do.

  16. DNDJohan aka kistics

Where’s Tatis?? Haven’t seen him too much.

    1. trs86

Knee I think but nothing serious.

  17. trs86

I hope no one was actually serious with their concern over Santana. If so they should be out looking for chucks of sky instead of on here posting.

    1. Mr North Jersey

      what makes u say that?

      1. trs86

        It’s ST. LOL.

        1. Mr North Jersey

          ?

          1. trs86

            Spring Training.

          2. Mr North Jersey

so you said that because of S.T.? FORGET IT

          3. trs86

LOL, it’s spring training, why should we be concerned with hits or runs? The same as people basing the idea of starting Davis over Murphy because of 18 spring training AB’s. I would be much more concerned if Jerry or Omar were concerned.

          4. Mr North Jersey

I agree my question is why did you feel the need to bring that up. Seemed like it was unprovoked.

          5. trs86

“oh no!!! what’s going on with johan!!! ahhhhh!!!!”

“Is it time to panic yet???? It’s Johan or no playoffs this season!!!! pleaseeeeeeeee!!!”

Which brought on my question “hope no one was actually serious with their concern over Santana.”

Not to mention besides DND about 100 tweets of panic.

          6. Mr North Jersey

Oh I took that as a clear attempt at sarcasm. Never took it as a legit concern same as me saying get the Santana for Adrian Gonzalez signs out. I must have my sarcasm radar on high my bad if that was meant as a legit concerned statement.

          7. trs86

I could not tell so that is why I said I hope no one is serious.

          8. Mr North Jersey

Ohhh Well for the record I don’t want to trade Santana for Adrian Gonzalez ok?

          9. trs86

LOL, I know you well enough to figure out most of your sarcasm.

    2. DNDJohan aka kistics

ok.. i’ll be out looking for chucks of sky….

      1. trs86

        LOL, chunks.

But seriously are you actually concerned over his first start in ST?

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

no… i’m just trying to avoid work-related activities today… lol

  18. Mr North Jersey

Davis is human he was called out looking. Murphy just went phew

    1. Mr North Jersey

you think Murphy has a Voodoo doll?

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        for Bay?

        1. Mr North Jersey

          davis

          1. DNDJohan aka kistics

Oh… I was thinking he might want the LF position back…

          2. trs86

LOL, so Davis has done so well Murphy’s best hope is now LF.

  19. Mr North Jersey

    Santana Round 2 coming up

  20. DNDJohan aka kistics

Let’s say Ike bats like .750 this ST with 12 HRs and 30 RBIs.. or something like that

AND Murphy still keeps his job at 1B… who gets the boot on the bench?

    1. Mr North Jersey

? are you suggesting Davis makes the team as a backup?

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        yes

        1. metsfan4decades

No. Davis should start in the minors. Along with Majia and Thole.

        2. Mr North Jersey

I can’t see davis sitting on the bench. The popular theme is prospects need to play everyday so they can get better.

        3. DNDJohan aka kistics

Even if Davis is hitting .750 12HRs 30RBIs this ST?

          1. trs86

But what if Murphy is hitting 1.350089?

LOL, it’s still ST. If Davis is here he is starting not sitting the bench.

          2. DNDJohan aka kistics

You are right. So, if he is hitting 1.350089, do you make him the starting 1B in the majors or still going down to AAA?

          3. trs86

Most likely going down unless you can get good value from Murphy in a trade.

          4. Mr North Jersey

DND I think being a prospect the most important thing is he gets steady ab’s so he can continue to develop. Riding the bench doesn’t seem the best way for Davis to grow.

          5. DNDJohan aka kistics

you are right too. but my point was if Davis makes the team, who gets the boot?

          6. Mr North Jersey

Not that I see it happening but if by chance Davis makes the team who cares who gets the boot.

          7. DNDJohan aka kistics

            Good point. LOL

          8. trs86

Most likely Murphy goes down to learn another position I guess. Otherwise Murphy makes the team as the LH bench guy and none of the Cat, Carter, Jacobs trio make the team.

  21. CaseStreet

Is there a reason why Davis keeps on getting starts at 1B over Jacobs?
Can we at least get to see ourselves how awful Jacobs is playing the field?

    1. Mr North Jersey

Maybe they just want to get him some ab’s early since they already know he will not make the big club and want to just give him a look see.

    2. DNDJohan aka kistics

Perhaps Jacobs is looked at as the power bat off the bench rather than a competition at 1B?

      1. ceetar

Rightly so. Or Sinstrally so anyway.

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

What the heck does that mean?

          1. ceetar

Sinistral means of the left, or left-handed. Jacobs is left-handed, so I figured “rightly so” didn’t work.

don’t mind me, nothing to see here..

          2. DNDJohan aka kistics

            LOL. Thanks for clarifying. :)

  22. ceetar

With Cora at SS I was expecting “OMG THE SKY IS FALLING REYES IS DEAD” type comments out there.

    http://bit.ly/cvMI5p

that’s Adam Rubin’s link of 30 seconds of Howard Johnson BP. yes, you read that right.

  23. Mr North Jersey

Wow they are tattooing Santana’s pitches

    1. Mr North Jersey

I echo Burkhardts sentiments I hope Santana just feels fins and nice applause from the crowd as he walked off the field.

      1. metsfan4decades

Jerry looking on, ‘making sure his ace is healthy’.

Yup. Because that would be the worst case scenario. If he’s healthy, he certainly didn’t forget how to pitch so I’m not worried about him today.

        1. trs86

Agreed. Even injured last year he was still a very good pitcher. Not concerned at all.

  24. metsfan4decades

So…to recap each of our supposed 5 starters:

The only one who had a good first outing was Niese? LOL.

    1. Mr North Jersey

      Define Good. :-)

      1. trs86

Right, are we basing good on stats? LOL.

      2. metsfan4decades

Yeah, I know it’s subjective and such a small sample size – 45 pitches or so.

Maybe I should have said of our 5 starters, Niese had the best first showing….

  25. Mr North Jersey

I was actually impressed with Ollie’s performance.

  26. Mr North Jersey

Santana is such a pro that I am not concerned of course but you never like watching your ace give up ropes all over the place.

  27. metsfan4decades

LOL – gotta love Ralph. They asked him what he thought about Santana’s first showing. He says, it’s not even worth watching. They’re out there working on their stuff, fine tuning etc.
He says, ‘It’s when the bell rings, that it counts’.

    1. metsfan4decades

      He ends it with:

‘Doesn’t make any difference. When you’re good, you’re good’.

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        That’s awesome.

    2. trs86

No wonder I like that man.

  28. Mr North Jersey

    Highlight of the day
Wright crushes ball for a HR

  29. metsfan4decades

Ironically, Myers more worried about getting hit by the bat then in covering the bag. Might be prudent but hey Brett, no one likes getting bashed do they?

    Just had to say it….

  30. trs86

Maybe GMJR is earning some trade value. Hitting .417.

  31. Mr North Jersey

Franco is a Wilpon spy don’t trust him. He is looking for dirt on Manuel.

Someone will write that up anytime now watch and see. lol

  32. Mr North Jersey

    fromwhaticangather.com says
“By the way, Santana was pulled from the game, having thrown around 50 pitches. He was up in the strike zone; but overall, for his first start, it was good to see his fastball back around 92 mph.”

I must of missed it I don’t recall seeing any of his pitches clocked at 92mph.

    1. trs86

      What did you see?

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Here comes Davis

  33. Mr North Jersey

    89mph

    1. Mr North Jersey

      oops i nested that wrong

    2. trs86

Hmmm, I guess that’s about right for his first start. Like I said his average for his career is only 91.7.

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Yea you said that earlier.

      2. trs86

LOL, that’s why I said “like I said”. Duh… Man we need something good to happen like the season starting before we all kill each other.

        1. Mr North Jersey

          sensitive I see.

  34. Mr North Jersey

Oh baby that Davis voodoo doll is working for Murphy :-)

    Davis 0-2 2 k’s

    1. metsfan4decades

LOL. So is he batting under .500 yet?

Davis should start in the minors.

      1. trs86

        Trade him for Agonz.

        1. Mr North Jersey

too late S.D. wont take him now. :-P

          1. DNDJohan aka kistics

They’ll take him with Green now…

          2. Mr North Jersey

Whatever we do we can’t trade away Figueroa.

  35. Mr North Jersey

Wow KRod has an explosive delivery

    1. metsfan4decades

And little wow – Green with a 1-2-3 inning.

      1. trs86

Man, should we hope Green does well or poorly? I really don’t want him in the pen.

        1. Mr North Jersey

Why would we root for a Met to be bad?

          1. Mr North Jersey

Can’t we trade him for something if he is good?

          2. trs86

            Sure we could, would we?

          3. Mr North Jersey

Who knows but wishing a Met does poorly doesn’t make sense to me.

          4. trs86

It was said tongue in cheek NJ. You know I never wish any Met to actually perform poorly. More stating that I don’t want him in the pen.

          5. Mr North Jersey

You see I turned my sarcasm radar off and look at what happens.

        2. metsfan4decades

Well, you know how I feel about Green. He was never consistent last year.
I know he’s been working hard this year. I heard Burkhardt comment about that saying ‘the Mets are going to need him in the pen this year’.
My question is why? Don’t we have many candidates? Or are some just as big a question mark as Green?

          1. trs86

I guess that my problem is that I see him becoming Heilman part two. A lot of fans are already down on him and with his inconsistency it’s an even bigger problem. We have a good competition and a lot of guys who I would prefer to see over the course of the season get that spot.

          2. ceetar

But if Green pitches well enough to earn the spot, he should get it. It’s not like most of those guys are going far away taht they can’t replace him.

I think you just don’t trust Omar and Manuel and whoever to make a wise decision, but I think you don’t (Omar at leasT) give them enough credit. When it comes down to it, they do know what they’re talkingabout for the most part, and It’s not like the non-Green options are that amazing or stand out in any great way.

          3. trs86

I guess unless it’s Nieve, Misch or another guy out of options.

          4. ceetar

True. Not that I’d be real down if Misch gets lost. Hopefully they do find the team that’s best without having to lose anybody though.

          5. trs86

I would not jump off a bridge but I think the fact that he is a cheap LHP who can start or relieve and had decent numbers last year is something I would rather have than Green. Who knows? I just don’t see what they see in Green. Seems like he is very replaceable.

  36. Mr North Jersey

    Great play

  37. Mr North Jersey

I’m waiting to see if Santana comes out and talks about his outing ghas there been any announcement that they might interview him?

    1. metsfan4decades

One of them (Keith or Ronnie) said earlier: ‘we’ll see if we can get Johan on to comment on his outing’. or some similar comment.

      Haven’t seen him yet.

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Kool thx 4D

  38. Kingman 26

Well, clearly Figgy and Takahashi need to be our number 1 and 2 starters.

Santana, Ollie, Pelf, and Maine all suck.

    1. Mr North Jersey

hahahhahahahhaa that’s what I am talking about!

      1. Kingman 26

        :-)

    2. DNDJohan aka kistics

What about Mejia!! He’s our #1!

      1. Mr North Jersey

He is Doc Gooden without the Curveball.

  39. metsfan4decades

LOL – Raccoon loose in the stands and on the field.

  40. trs86

“They made me work today. They were swinging right away. But I felt good because I was able to throw all of my pitches. I was a little bit off with my mechanics, releasing the ball. That’s part of spring training. That’s what we’re here for, trying to make adjustments and throw all of my pitches. The good thing is I felt good. I didn’t feel any problem in my arm. So that’s good.”

    1. Mr North Jersey

Good that is exactly what you want to hear.

    2. metsfan4decades

      ‘I Feel Good’.

Three words all Met fans wanted to hear.

  41. Mr North Jersey

Racoon city wow Resident Evil is in Port St Lucie.

  42. Mr North Jersey

Bring on Murphy we need a 3 run bomb

  43. metsfan4decades

Ralph doesn’t sound like he thinks it’s a good idea for Jose to be batting third.

    Ronnie agreed.

Kevin said he would think in order to see how well that’s going to work, you would think Jerry wants to see a good sample size here in ST on that. With every day Jose misses, he’s wondering if that experiment will not happen.

    1. trs86

In the words of Krod “Who?”

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        LOL… ya gotta love KRod.

  44. Mr North Jersey

    What? A Clemens sighting?

    1. Mr North Jersey

Oh boy get the roids tester Clemens is on the field.

  45. Mr North Jersey

Breaking News Mets trade GMJ, Castillo, Havens and Green for Brandon Phillips.

Now wouldn’t that make a nice Headline? Oh well we can dream I suppose.

  46. Mr North Jersey

Did someone burn the Voodoo doll? Davis goes Yaaaarrrrd!!!

  47. metsfan4decades

    Ronnie on the Ike HR:

‘There’s a lot of veterans sitting on the bench saying – come on, it cannot be that easy’…..

    1. Mr North Jersey

When do the Davis HGH Rumors start?

    2. trs86

LOL, perhaps DND is right. Davis will bat 1.0438 with 20 HR and 50 RBI in ST.

      1. Mr North Jersey

I believe in an interview with Boomer & Carlton Francouer said Davis jokingly was said to be going for the Spring Training MVP.

        1. trs86

Have to compete with Fmart. LOL.

          1. Mr North Jersey

            and Mejia

          2. trs86

Come on a reliever can’t get MVP.

          3. Mr North Jersey

Sure he can show me where it says he can’t :-P

          4. ceetar

If he hits 100 IP, 130 Ks 0 ERA,10 3IP saves, and somehow manages 3 AB where he hits 1 HR, 2 doubles and drives in 7?

          5. trs86

            Nope, just Rolaids relief man.

          6. Mr North Jersey

We are still talking about a non existent Spring Training MVP right?

      2. DNDJohan aka kistics

        YES!!!!

  48. metsfan4decades

Yeah, talking about the Twins closer and his injury – probably season ending. It could always be worse. I’ll take KRod and his pink eye, thank you…..

    1. Mr North Jersey

      YOU AIN’T KIDDING

    2. trs86

That’s a huge blow to them.

    3. DNDJohan aka kistics

That really hurts for the Twins, but they’ll still be competitive as always.

  49. trs86

Still no one talking about the fact that Fmart has 2 HR 2 3B and also has 10 hits.

    1. metsfan4decades

Well, except FMart, who they just interviewed…

      1. trs86

I am beginning to think they should trade GMJR or Pagan and go with Fmart.

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

Or trade FMart for AGonz… LOL

      2. Mr North Jersey

There was talk on SNY’s Loud Mouths or Daily News Live if FMart should make the team I believe.

    2. prismo

I asked you on Twitter with no response…but how many options does he have left? Seems like he’s been back and forth quite a bit so far. Gotta keep an eye on that number!

      1. ceetar

can’t see that he doesn’t have options, he only came up last season briefly. He still has rookie status even.

LOL, gameday has that Cora saw 5 straight balls. Must be batting practice.

Was watching Gameday the other day and they had the Mets down 1-2-3, moved to the bottom of the inning. Then went back to the top of the inning and added some hits and a couple of runs.
I’m thinking – oh goodie, MLB has added do overs!

Yeah, it’s terrible for ST. Obviously Cora hit into a double play on the 6th ball.

That’s why pitch recognition is so important. With the seventh ball he would have received a free hot dog.

True or in blackjack he would have automatically won the hand with 5.
