I see Anderson Hernandez made an error in the “B” game. Not because of that error but just in general assuming Reyes is not on the 25-man roster Opening Day I sincerely hope the spot will be filled by someone other than AHern. Tejada, Adams, or other in house/outside options are infinitely more appealing.

i hope it is tejada other options are not appealing, unless you try out edgardo alfonzo

Hi Grave haven’t seen you since like Friday afternoon hope all is well.

I saw that about AHern in todays game. I am of the opinion that if the Mets don’t go with Tejada they may just do a trade.

I see Figgy threw another scoreless inning I wonder if he keeps this up how long before you hear the Mets taking about Figgy in the 5 hole? Especially if Niese or Nieve don’t step up to announce themselves in the running for the 5th spot.

right now Takahashi has to be the 5th SP. I mean Figueroa is perfect for the long man but Takahashi has been nothing short of dominant in his showing so far. who knows maybe he can be the stability we’ve lacked since Glavine left.

If he keeps this there is no argument for him not being in the rotation…

    Some tidbits through 3.5 innings.

Santana: 2 hits, 4K’s through 3, Gave up leadoff double in 4th
Castillo another hit, our much maligned 2b seems to keep getting on base
Bay a triple with one out, Murph popped out to Catcher, Frenchy flied to center, couldn’t plate him.

Cora & Wright with Walks earlier in the gam

Follow up: Johan get’s a fly out, ground out to SS, then picks the guy off second for the final out. Is this guy a stud or what!

      1. rustyjr

        he is the difference maker

if you want to read the tea leaves, Murphy being in with the regulars should be a sign!

Rough day for Mr. Maine. Getting yanked for Parnell in his first inning of work giving up 4 runs all with 2 out. Parnell wild pitch run scores. 5-0 Fish. 9th hitter in inning fly out to CF inning over. Yuck.

      Let me see

      out
      out
      walk
      walk
      double
      double
      walk
      double

Hit the showers kid. Maine is def behind the pack overall.

is my memory bad or does maine always suck in ST?

he was fantastic one year, I think 2008. Could have been 2007 I guess

I think it was 2008. Very good in ST, struggled almost from day one during the season.

          Let’s see…
I think he came up to join the roster somewhere midway in 2006.
Don’t remember his 2007 ST stats but his position in the rotation probably wasn’t a given so not sure how they used him in ST.

At the end of 2008, when he was going for surgery on the shoulder bone chip, he admitted he was playing with hip pain almost from the start of ST. So who knows how that affected him?

In 2009 he was supposed to be recovered from the surgery but became apparent he wasn’t. Didn’t have full strength back, dead arm, whatever and those stats probably reflected that.

So here we are at 2010.

They interviewed him on WFAN after the game and he alluded to that ‘knowing your roll’ mindset. Was trying to say, without coming out and just saying it, that he’s not a reliever, coming in to ‘relieve’ today probably reflected that.
Ed Coleman’s made a good point after the interview saying, no matter when you come in during a ST game, the idea is to get outs – period. Whether you’re normally a starter or a reliever, it shouldn’t matter. Just get the outs.
