This is probably the last Tale Of The Tape since Ike Davis has had only one official at bat since March 10th. Ike will probably be in the next round of cuts hopefully headed to AAA. Hopefully also for the last time here is my disclaimer, yes I understand Murphy will most likely be the opening day 1st baseman and yes Ike Davis has a slim to none shot of making the club. So the following is for entertainment purposes for the what if contingent out there.

More importantly is the fact that Murphy is in a competition with Jacobs and doing nothing to distinguish himself. Luckily neither is Jacobs.

Since there is no question on who the opening day 1st baseman will be….it would have been nice had we saw Murphy with a few more hits by this time….

Yep it would be nice.
Hopefully Murphy will hit the ground running on Opening Day and reward all those that continue to have faith in him.

it doesn’t really matter tha much. He could certainly have a strong finish, with 2 weeks left to go. 27 ABs is really a blip on the radar of a season.
More interesting might be, how has his defense been? is he looking good?
Keep in mind I haven’t seen 1 inning of ST…
And even if he never does get it going in ST, he could still have a big start to the season. Happens all the time.

might be better off putting up the F mart vs. Pagan TOTP.
And the thought of jacobs being the starting 1B made me gag just a little.
Although if they are that down on Murphy, and Jacobs does what I expect him do do (not much), then there is a real good chance you will see Davis back up by 6/1, if he rakes in AAA (and especially looks better vs. lefties).

Compared to Jacobs and Murphy he does not have to look good vs lefties.

not compared to those 2 guys, no.
But to answer the debate about ‘rushing” prospects? yes. Since it seems clear he can hit RH pitching, and has a good rep with the glove. The getting eat up by lefties seems to be his preceived flaw to work on.
say 2 months and ~200 ABs should be enough extra time to show if ST was a fluke or not. If he is mashing in that time, what the hell, bring him up.
It does seem (a few ST errors aside) that he is the best glove they have (pretty much the only “real” 1B)
