    Mejia on back-to-back days…. eek!

  2. GravediggerHebner

    Cora schmora!

So minus the starting pitcher, this is anywhere from 5/8 to 7/8 of the projected regular lineup I guess, with Reyes for Cora, Pagan for Matthews and ? for Murphy as my ifs.

  3. njstuckintx

I know it’s just spring training, but those are some impressive numbers for the ATL batters., minus McLouth.

    1. Mr North Jersey

      I said the same thing.

    2. trs86

Hey if you took out Frenchy and Murphy and put in Davis and Carter we could match numbers. Might not make us any better though.

      1. stickguy

probably would though, especially against a RH SP.

  4. DNDJohan aka kistics

Listening to ATL radio station… the announcer says

“The Braves have faced Odalis Perez 10 times over the past 3 years….”
“Melky gets a single right over the head of Oliver Miller… uh… Perez…”

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

Man.. can’t believe how inaccurate these radio guys are… especially for their division rival…

“Reyes out with thyroid problems and I can relate to that as I take medication everyday for my thyroid problem. It looks like Reyes needs to do that as well. It’ll mess with your energy level.”

      1. Mr North Jersey

        what radio station is that?

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

WCNN.. it’s the brave’s radio station. I’m listening on MLB.com though.. paid $10 for audio access all season. Only Bravo’s station is available since WFAN is not broadcasting.

          1. Mr North Jersey

            I see thanks.

  5. stickguy

    what? No reyes?

    sorry, had to do it.

ANd if Mejia actually pitches today, Jerry and Omar should be fired on the spot. Or at least put on double secret probation.

If I had a billion dollar company and my stewards of it were treating prime assets like this, I would certainly have some words with them.

  6. metsfan4decades

Keith picking apart Ollie’s delivery early in this first inning. Probably with good reason since he just gave up a single and a double.

He said he was talking to Barajas and he said that when he’s set up for Ollie to come up inside, sometimes he rushes the pitch and puts too much on it – thereby allowing it to go outside, wide, up.

    1. stickguy

then they should just keep going inside, regardless of the results this inning.

It is ST, and I would rather he fixed a flaw, then just abandon 1/2 the plate to try and get a few more outs here.

    2. ceetar

Contrast that our (vibrant) color guy can nitpick and dissect our pitchers delivery and location with the Braves radio guys not even getting opposing pitchers names correct. We are truly blessed.

  7. Mr North Jersey

    again no gun

    1. trs86

Hey it’s ST be easy on Ollie, no reason to shoot him yet.

      1. Mr North Jersey

Let’s not give anyone any wrong ideas.

I am referring to a Radar gun for those that may not be able to get TRS’s joke.

        1. metsfan4decades

          LOL…
SNY often does this. Takes them an inning or two to start putting up the pitch speed.

  8. trs86

    I hate Gameday.

    1. stickguy

      It’s ST for them too.

  9. Mr North Jersey

Did they say how many innings Ollie will go today?

  10. Mr North Jersey

Second time through the order I am looking forward to see how Ollie does.

  11. asod75

ESPN has the pitch speeds. Ollie started off throwing the fastball at 87. Cranked it up to 89-90 to strike out Glaus. Maybe it’s because I don’t expect much, but I think Ollie looks pretty decent so far. At least he’s throwing strikes and his delivery is somewhat sound. I mean, there haven’t been too many pitches that have been way off the grid. And the first hit by Melky was pretty cheap, a roller up the middle. That being said, wish the Mets had this Hanson kid. He’s going to be good for a long time, as long as he avoids injuries of course.

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

It looks like ESPN has their thing working

  12. asod75

When you’re going bad, you can’t get anything to drop. Murph just ripped the 3-2 fastball up the middle, but Escobar was right there to snag it.

    1. Mr North Jersey

      true

    2. stickguy

another part of spring training. Look for how they are doing, not just the results ont eh scoresheet.

such a small sample size is ST. Over the course of a full year, the good and bad luck (and hot and cold streaks) even out.

and, they do wipe out the stat sheet on opening day, so everyone starts out the same again.

  13. Mr North Jersey

    good ab Frenchy

  14. asod75

Nice AB by Francouer there…drawing the walk, great to see.

  15. DNDJohan aka kistics

Man! ATL radio guys are killing Frenchy…

“Francouer has seen FIVE pitches, I repeat FIVE pitches AB here”… “Francouer has reached the FULL COUNT”….

    1. ceetar

      lol..

    2. asod75

ATL announcers have always been brutal, whether on TV or radio. As are Marlin announcers. I’ll tell you what, I used to love Jon Miller and Joe Morgan back in the day, but that day was a long time ago. Today, here are some of the errors Miller has made: “Brian McCann, perhaps the best hitting catcher in baseball,” then Joe had to remind him about Joe Mauer. “Jerry Manuel, entering his first full season as the Mets manager, replacing Willie Randolph last year. Oh wait, he was the manager last year all year, right?”

      1. Mr North Jersey

        wow

      2. DNDJohan aka kistics

        LOL

      3. metsfan4decades

That is bad. Nothing like having a little knowledge of what you’re broadcasting on.

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

I guess we should be glad we have GKR….

  16. Mr North Jersey

So with Ike sent down I am guessing he goes to AAA Bisons also along with FMart, Thole and Tejada.

Bisons Team really has something to look forward to in 2010.

    C. Thole
    1B. Davis
    SS. Tejada
    OF. FMart

    1. trs86

Not yet, he was assigned to minor league camp and then they will determine AA or AAA.

      1. Mr North Jersey

True but it’s expected he will be assigned to AAA.

  17. Mr North Jersey

6 of Ollies last 8 pitches were balls not a good sign.

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

part of ST… maybe he was instructed to throw balls this game…

      1. Mr North Jersey

        :-)

  18. Mr North Jersey

    1 out

  19. Mr North Jersey

    wow murphy heads up play

  20. metsfan4decades

OUT at third. Nice heads up by Murph – even though the throw wasn’t all that accurate.

Ollie could be looking a little better to ease my concerns….

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

Would 3 pitch K do it for ya?

      1. ceetar

It’s still spring, so the trivial things like how he bounces back and what he does in certain situations is more important than the overall line.

And the ability to throw a 3pitch K is always fun.

      2. metsfan4decades

lol – obviously I like those. Just a little off yet.
I’m not down on him though ’cause you know nobody wants to see Ollie succeed more than me. —Since I was most vocal in them resigning him.

  21. Mr North Jersey

so a walk a hit a runner thrown out on the base paths and a k.

  22. DNDJohan aka kistics

TRS, check out ESPN’s GameCast. It’s working well.

    http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/gamecast?gameId=300323121

  23. Mr North Jersey

Ouch Gary the way he just said the Mets outlook for the 8th inning guy hurts when you hear it.

  24. Mr North Jersey

Grave you watching game? Did you get a chill at Gary’s talking about the Mets not getting a starter?
    :-)

  25. metsfan4decades

Gary and Keith commenting on how it’s a much friendly feel in the clubhouse this year and much ‘easier’ than in years past….

    1. Mr North Jersey

Tell me that when the pressures of the season are on them if they struggle this season.

How they handle adversity is when we will see if there are any cracks in the clubhouse.

  26. DNDJohan aka kistics

    Nice! RISP w/2 out!

  27. DNDJohan aka kistics

    hmmmm perhaps Murphy is pressing?

    1. Mr North Jersey

If that is true I’d be concerned but I have to believe he is not in Spring Training.

      1. metsfan4decades

Keith talking earlier about that new upright stance. Said he doesn’t believe in totally changing a batter’s stance that way and believes he’s not comfortable yet. Said he may never be if it’s not natural for him.

  28. Mr North Jersey

    Another walk by Ollie

  29. Mr North Jersey

On a 2 – 0 count Escobar goes deep 2 run homer. Ollie needs to regroup and get ahead of the count on these hitters.

    1. asod75

Unfortunately, the old Ollie showed up, ever so briefly. He thought he had McCann struck out on a 3-2 pitch, then went into meltdown mode, missing badly on two pitches. Then grooves the 2-0 pitch, 3-1 Braves. Did make a nice recovery and began throwing strikes again to get out of the inning.

  30. DNDJohan aka kistics

    2-run HR by Escobar

  31. DNDJohan aka kistics

    Error by Castillo

    1. asod75

Castillo is beyond horrible in the field. Hard to believe because he was so good earlier in his career.

  32. Mr North Jersey

My only concern is Ollie seems to be falling behind in the count on many of the hitters today. His slider though has looked pretty good today.

  33. DNDJohan aka kistics

    Frenchy HR

  34. metsfan4decades

    Nice HR for Frenchy.
    3-2 Atlanta.

  35. asod75

That has to feel good for Francoeur. He smoked that thing.

  36. Mr North Jersey

You think Frenchy was thinking of his former manager as he rounded the bases?

  37. DNDJohan aka kistics

ATL radio continues to bash Frenchy..

“That’s the Francouer we are used to see”
“He won’t get that first pitch fastball during the season at all”

    hmmmm and where’s Ryan Church?

    1. asod75

ATL announcers = inbred hicks. Probably the same guys who were referring Francoeur as The Natural two or three years ago.

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        inbred hicks… LOL

    2. DNDJohan aka kistics

and these guys continue to make fun of Perez’s AB… these guys are really bad….

    3. DNDJohan aka kistics

These guys can’t figure out who this #96 LHP is… WTF?

  38. asod75

I smell a danger spot here. Ollie starting to miss badly on pitches.

  39. asod75

    Missed badly, another walk.

  40. Mr North Jersey

This is the deepest he has gone so far correct? I assume he may just be getting tired yes?

    1. asod75

I’m hoping that’s the case. Overall, he looked pretty good, but still a few trouble spots where he appeared to lose concentration.

  41. Mr North Jersey

Darling said where’s the gun also, great!

  42. trs86

Raul Valdez on loaner from the Mexican league. Hmmm…

    1. trs86

That guy got hit HARD right at Frenchy for a DP.

  43. trs86

Good news is that he was only at about 80 pitches. That should have gotten him 6 innings :|

    1. metsfan4decades

      I would hope.
As long as he’s healthy and the velocity is up where it needs to be, I’m hoping he’ll get into some kind of groove as April goes on.

      (Crossing my fingers)

  44. Mr North Jersey

    1. trs86

Yeah, but do you have his Mexican League stats???? Huh????

      1. Mr North Jersey

Hey be happy I got you this.

        1. trs86

          LOL

  45. Mr North Jersey

    frenchy says, Comete Eso!

  46. metsfan4decades

Very nice, Frenchy. Doubling up Chipper.
Franceour loves to show off that arm.

  47. DNDJohan aka kistics

nice job Frenchy! Take That ATL announcers!! inbred hicks!

    1. metsfan4decades

      hahaha…

  48. metsfan4decades

Jerry being interviewed by Gary and Keith right now.
Won’t commit to Jose batting 3rd once he’s back.

    1. metsfan4decades

Jerry definitely wants another lefty in the BP – three if he can get them.
He thinks Taka2 could be a complimentary lefty in the BP.

      1. trs86

He might be but he is much more useful as our #5.

        1. asod75

If he wants three lefties, then that means Misch and Taka would make the team, correct? Have fun in Japan, Figs….

          1. trs86

I think he said that in jest.

        2. metsfan4decades

          I’m in agreement there.
I was just curious why Jerry doesn’t think so….

  49. asod75

So glad Reyes will be back soon. George Burns may have more power than Cora (and Castillo for that matter) and he’s been dead for several years…..

    1. metsfan4decades

      With that Castillo steals second….

  50. asod75

Pitch looked high to Wright, Sir Gimps a Lot got the steal though. Nice job, Luis!
