Not since the words “No Mas” was uttered by Roberto Duran has there been such a shocker by a Sports celebrity. What was it you ask?
It was Darryl Strawberry quitting during last night’s episode of “Celebrity Apprentice“.
In what Darryl describes as an apparent attempt to take one for the team he volunteered to be fired rather than watching the person that should of been fired Gold Medalist Michael Johnson for failing to create a four-page advertorial for a new product from Norton 360 and LifeLock.
As a Mets fan I was shocked and disappointed that he did what he did. It was obvious after coaxing from Donald Trump that Darryl just didn’t have his heart in it and used the guise of taking one for the team to get out of the show. Making matters worse he also quit on his charity “Autism” which he is a spokesperson for.
All I can say is, why Darryl, why?

My question of “why, why why” is actually, Why would anyone actually watch this show!

I don’t watch the show so kind of hard for me to judge on what may have led to his decision to ‘quit’. Could be the time and commitment as each week went on was more than he bargained for and/or was taking away too much time from his family or other commitments and job.
Truthfully, after reading his book last year, describing what lead to his personal problems, what he did to get on the long road back and what he does daily to stay on that path, I was a bit surprised he even signed on for this show to begin with. As a somewhat public personality he tries to live a more low key life now, limiting his ‘public’ time and avoiding any and all situations that might put temptation in his path. Could be for personal reasons he felt doing this show was interfering with his attempt to stay on that path.
