Letters to the NL East, Part 3 of 5. (part 1, part 2)

atlantabraveslogo

Dear Atlanta Braves,

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I barely even have any ill will towards you anymore. It’s been five years since you won the division and it’s been a long five years. You don’t appear to have the tools to make it this year either, although the rotation does have some promising young arms in it. Had you not traded Vazquez, I’d almost be worried.

I don’t have a lot of faith in your bullpen holding up long term, as it feels like you downgraded there as well. Your offense has long been a weak point, and it probably still will be barring Heyward having a rookie season to rival Pujols and Reyes for the MVP and Larry Jones being healthy enough for the entire season.

You’re one of those middling teams that no one really wants to play because you’re not a push over, but you’re also not good enough for a rivalry either. Just boring. It’ll be interesting to see if you guys finish above .500 this year or not, and maybe you can help out the Mets a little by playing the Phillies hard.

One thing for sure, Bobby Cox is not getting another title before retiring this year. Maybe you should’ve beaten the Yankees another time in the 90s. Oh well.

Your former rival,

Optimistic Mets Fan

Agreed about the Braves. They’re alright, but just don’t seem to have enough to be a great game. I don’t even know what it is specifically…I just don’t like the feel of the team.

      I don’t know guys,
The Braves have the best starting pitching, top to bottom, in the division. I wouldn’t dismiss them so readily. In my predix over at my site, I took the Braves second and the Mets third, although I certainly hope I’m wrong and the Mets finish first!

i love to hate me some braves. Once Larry is gone, then I can agree on the “former rival” part. but that will be soon enough.

I think I was pretty cruel to the Phillies tomorrow. I plan on ripping the Yanks pretty hard on sunday.

Google translates that as “without Vaseline.” not sure that’s what you meant.

[Off Topic] someone on this site a while back posted a link to a site that was a database that had a players injury history it only went so far back but it was pretty nice. Does anyone know what site I am talking about ? If you do can you post the link? Thanks in advance.

      Try
      http://www.thebaseballcube.com

search for a player and click on the transactions list. It will at least give you dl stints.

Thanks TRS but the site I am looking for is way more detailed and is specifically only about a players injury history. I am kicking myself for losing the link it was the baseball-reference of player injuries.

          Hmmm, don’t know that one.
