It is being reported Mets signed a power hitting 1st baseman that has defected from Cuba. Mets are denying any such signing but we have obtained this scan of today’s paper by El Verdadero reporting the signing.
In it you can see where it says “In what may swing the balance of power in the NL East the New York Mets are reported to have secretly signed one of Cuba’s prized power hitting 1st baseman Abril Tonto.”
We still don’t know how long or for how much he has been signed for but who cares.
