Yes folks unfortunately it is official ! According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Sean Green – The Rich Rodriguez of the new millennium has been awarded the final spot in the Mets bullpen. Green beat out dark-horse candidate, Raul Valdes, who is on loan from the Mexican League.
Green allowed four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning in toady’s 11-0 rout by the Orioles earlier today. His final spring training e.r.a is 6.94 .I guess this is what happens to a player who should be either demoted or cut, but is guaranteed almost a million dollars.
Better but stock in Rolaids guys – were gonna be wealthy !

I see you’ve put the title under his photo as the caption, but perhaps the Mets should consider playing that song by Kermit the Frog whenever Green enters a game.

I tried to give Omar the benefit of the doubt coming into ST. Mainly because it was obviously going to be a fine balancing act between plugging holes for 2010, without tanking 2011+. So, even though I wanted another stop gap ST, I was OK with Bay, parts and keeping the farm intact.
But, the recent actions have me off the fence. What a freaking debacle of decision making. The Mejia issue is stupid. Green, I really can’t see. And if the rumor that they gave Calero the option to opt out of AAA (meaning they just lose him) is flat out asinine. Even if he isn’t fully into mid season form, he still was one of the better RPs this spring. Just give him Green’s spot, and let him round into form. Looks like Green is already in mid season form!
This team has a lot of resources, a huge fan base, and a lot of talent at different levels. But without a leadership team with a clue and some vision, it will likely continue to flounder.

Welcome to the Dark Side!
Sorry there’s no room on the float, but you’re welcome to walk alongside.

I guess we’re all in good company ’cause count me in.
Some of us were very vocal in saying, going into the off season, that we absolutely needed a good #2 behind Johan. We didn’t get him, for probably a variety of reasons.
I just wonder if he knew then what he knows now, if Omar wouldn’t want to go back and make a trade for that #2…..
And what is it about Calero that the see that makes him that expendable??

If they lose Calero for nothing at this point, my head might pop off.

no thanks. Someone has to stay behind with the float of positiviality. And I seem to be the only one left (although I am hoping Ceeter hangs in there. someone has to watch for the cops!)
And you might not believe it, but the SP doesn’t bother me at the moment. I still think it will be OK.
That, and the SP decision was pretty much made months ago, so we are kind of stuck with it.
It is the other decisions that drive me nuts (primarily the pen and Jacobs).
And it isn’t that the team can’t do well (as in make the playoffs), it is just that the Omar and buddies FO + Jerry seem to be making it way harder than it should be.

-I agree with.
I’m not one for throwing in the towel or writing off the season before it even starts – and I’m not doing it this year either.
This BP scares me though.
We need pitching to keep us in games early on before Reyes and Beltran return. The SP we all know is going to be shaky to start. That means we absolutely need a strong BP to pick up the slack.
Decisions like going with Green in the BP? Hello, is anyone paying attention?

I was just testing you and this is exactly the kind of response I was hoping for – you passed.
Our dueling floats are like yin and yang, each incomplete without the other.

steve-o my friend (hey, is your brother Dan-o?),I feel that you may just be right.
Assuming of course that his bosses A) are paying attention, and B) would be smart enough to know where to pin the blame.
But, with the bunch of strange, dumb and risky moves they pulled off (between what they did and didn’t do during the off season, combined with the head scratchers putting together the roster), if the season starts off bad (especially if some of Omar’s follies blowup on him) it could be a real short leash.

Hey stick remember Green is an Omar move and sending him down is an admission that he didn’t bring in a quality player,so for Omar to keep him Omar’s got to be praying he does well almost like a desperate move to save himself
