First off last night’s game in my opinion was a very important game for the collective psyche of Mets fans ( and the players alike). Seeing Mike Pelfrey last nigh go six innings allowing only two runs harkened me back to ’08 when he looked like a potential number two starter. This coupled with Jon Neises’ heart breaking 3-1 loss on Thursday night has given me enough confidence to suggest that this rotation might be better than many journalists and fans alike are predicting. I know that the season is less than a week old, and we shouldn’t jump the gun, but I feel that if the pitching holds up and the bats heat up, well this Mets team will be a force to be reckoned with.
But enough of my arm chair prognostications because I have a series of questions that I would like you to answer.
1. Who is your all time favorite Mets scrub ? Mine I have to admit is a tie between Jerry Morales and Jose Cardenal.
2. Who is your least favorite Mets scrub? For me it’s Rich Rodriguez.
3. Who do you think is the most underrated Mets pitcher of all time ? My pick – Craig Swan.
Oh and by the way , Welcome back Jose !! We have missed you !

” The all time underrated Mets pitcher !”
And with that said….. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!
Happy Birthday wishes go out to one of the many forgotten pitchers from the Mets rotations of the mid ’60′s, Frank Lary .(1930)
Reserve outfielder from Leroy Stanton from ’70-’71, is 64.(1946) Leroy was one of the minor players to be included in the awful Nolan Ryan to the California Angels for Jim Fregosi trade !
Middle reliever from the ’73 team, Phil Hennigan is 64. (1946)
Mets drafted pitcher, Mike Bruhert from the Philadelphia Phillies on April 10, 1973. He would be later be traded to the Texas Rangers for a past his prime Dock Ellis.
Pittsburgh Pirates signed Mike “Brother of Greg” Maddux of the New York Mets as a free agent on April 10, 1995.
Needless to say Mets fans everywhere weren’t upset or devastated when he left.
And today’s Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day is – He likes to go commando !

All time favorite Met scrub? What do we consider a scrub?
I liked Duffy Dyer and Art Shamsky – back in the day.
I like the second coming of Mazzilli in 1986. Also liked Wayne Garrett who kept alternating between starter and backup.
Least favorite Met scrub?
There’s been many. Rich Rodriguez would be one. Jacobs might soon to be on my list.
Underrated Met pitcher? I’m going with Nolan Ryan. The Mets just flat out gave up on him. How did that work out for them? LOL.

Favorite Met Scrub: Danny Heep
Least Favortie Met Scrub: Todd Pratt – was obnoxious to my friends kids baseball team on a visit to Shea, guy came off as a total tool. Ramon Castro – close second, off the field issues and never found him to be the cut up he was made out to be.
Underrated Met Pitcher: Hard to disagree with MF4D choice but as a second I’ll go Rick Reed.

1. Who is your all time favorite Mets scrub?
—I will go with Danny Heep and Ron Hodges.
2. Who is your least favorite Mets scrub?
—Easy. Nelson Figueroa. The most over-blabbed-about rotten player to wear a Met uni in forever. Perhaps the best thing which will occur if the pitching keeps this up is that Figgy’s dingbat supporters will SHUT UP about him once and for all.
3. Who do you think is the most underrated Mets pitcher of all time?
—I think Swan is a fine choice. I will go with Mike Scott for the same reasons MF4D goes with Ryan!

i wouldnt ever consider ryan a scrub – he showed much potential – a scrub im my opinion is usually the guy riding the pine and when he does get a start becuse he is the last resort – see bob bailor gary raajsich kelvim chapman, tom gorman ron hodges etc

1). All time favorite scrub – Ron Gardenhire, for the very specific reason that he seemed to hit a lot of what I call “foul home runs.” The guy had no power but in my memory was constantly hitting long fly balls that “if it’s fair it’s a home run” but they were never fair. My brother and I played many back yard wiffle ball games as kids and after every long foul ball hit we’d yell “Ron Gardenhire!”
2). Least favorite scrub – Julio Franco, what the hell was that all about anyway?
3). Most underrated pitcher – I know you already said it but I completely agree it’s Craig Swan. That ERA title of his was the only thing I could point at that was good about the Mets for a very long period.

Nice to see I am getting some early converts for the “the mets rotation will be better than people expect and can actually be a strength of the team this year) trailer that I have hooked onto the float of positiviality. I have been making that statement for months, andd eventually, even a blind squirrel finds its nuts.
