Looks like Josh Thole has been struggling at the plate this past week.

The St. Lucie Mets – Robert Carson….Yuck is right. If he started that game, very Glavinesque….

Misch looks ready to take maines spot (I keed, I keed)

    Free Carter?

Actually, Evans looks like he put last year behind him, and has probably outgrown AA for the 2nd time (he put up real good numbers there in his last stint a few years back).

I am still totally jiggy with Carter and evans replacing Tatis and Jacobs. I actually think you will gain from that swap (production), beyond the obvious elation of the “fans” of those 2 stiffs.

I also think Kirk N. is going to be up in Buffalo by the end of the year.

your replacement for Beltran in 2012. Book it Dan-O. I guaranteeeee it.

I’m secretly holding out for Carlos Gomez to return to Citi.

only if he learns to hit first.

Otherwise I think he is Jason Pridie.

      2. CaseStreet

I think he’ll have a breakout season if he gets to hit between Weeks and Braun.

Wow…did you guys see that quote from Omar on MetsBlog?

“It was good to get the win (yesterday). It just changes the momentum… St. Louis is always tough. If we can win two out of three, that will be outstanding. If we win one, I’ll take it. We’ve got Jose back, and once we get Murphy and Beltran back, we can compete with everyone else.”

Our General Manager will “take” losing a series as a satisfactory outcome. Mother ****er.

Bothers me less than when I thought Manuel said it. so many people are saying the same thing for instance. He doesn’t actually control the game/outcome. At least he’s not saying he thinks they’ll win one, although that would’ve been a nice followup question.

I mean, if you raelly break it down, If you go into a series where you hae to face Pujols, and the pitchers are Wainwright and Carpenter…still, I think this shows lack of faith in Perez/Maine, which is the part that bothers me.

      1. stickguy

I understand your point, but it should still never be said. Certainly not before the series even starts!

      2. prismo

        You’re way off base.

If the Mets (very very hypothetically) made the playoffs and had to face the Cards in the first round, you’d be okay with Omar saying “well I’ll take two wins out of five”?

Give me a break. You NEVER say that and it’s clearly admitting that he built an inferior team.

        1. ceetar

Playoffs are different. It’s almost like he’s deemphasizing the importance of a random 3 game series in April. Yeah, you want to win, he’d like 2/3, but if they take 1/3 it’s April, it’s early, it’s a good team, it’s not the end of the world.

          1. prismo

            I just can’t disagree more.

Games in April count just as much as games in September. And with Beltran out for who knows how long, THIS may be the team we have to work with for most of the season.

I don’t even know what else to say. It hurts my brain too much.

          2. ceetar

Except it never ends up like that. games in September always end up having more meaning, because you know where you stand. Sure, in the standings they count the same, but you also don’t know how many you need in April (yes, yes, as many as possible, but gotta manage the energy levels as well)

He’s not the leader of the team, he’s not the guy motivating the players or actually affecting the game. His job, basically, is to evaulate the team’s early play to determine what he needs to do midseason to make them better. in that sense, the idea of keeping it close so they can make a push after evaulation almost jives with his job.

He shouldn’t have broken it down into specifics, just should’ve said they are capable of winning every game but you can’t win them all either.

    2. CaseStreet

I like it. It’s the underpromise – overachieve plan.

        LOL

      2. CaseStreet

I’ll add some reverse psychology, too.

“This team sucks! The season is over!”

  5. DNDJohan aka kistics

Pagan out of the lineup again. Jacobs still batting 5th.

    2. stickguy

      Jidiot.

I honest to God think Jerry is trying to get fired now to get it over with. He knows there is no chance of a contract beyond this year, so why go through the hassle of pretending to care?

      1. ceetar

On the off chance any would ever hire him again?
