PITCHER
This award goes to all the Mets pitchers for having all the fight in the world to keep the Cardinals off the scoreboard for 18 innings. The only man to not be included in this will be Fransisco Rodriguez as he had the choice im sure of facing Yadier Molina(game 7 NLCS anyone) or Allen Craig(who is hitting .077) for the final out in the 19th. Fransisco blew it and while the Mets ultimately won with Pelfrey picking up the save(first of his career), it could have been over much earlier. Hats off to Johan Santana and all of the Mets bullpen. Johan Santana setting the mood early in his quest for his 2nd win, going 7 innings with 9k’s and 113 pitches. Hisanori Takahashi, for the near heart attack he gave in the 14th but manned up to fan 3 people to finish that inning and keep the game going in his 2 innings of work. Jenrry Mejia…20 years old put in that situation and come through for 2 innings of work…bravo kid. Fernando Nieve whose arm for some reason or another does not fall off. Raul Valdez for bouncing back after his outing last night to throw two innings and getting a hit to only get thrown out on a bad call in my opinion. Royota Igarashi, Pedro Feliciano, Mike Pelfrey for getting the job done in your innings of work…especially Mike who finally put us all to bed lol.

This MUA goes out to all the Met faithful that stayed up and watched a game that will surely be remembered for quite some time. Yes this game was a an epic black hole of suck offensive wise, it did showcase the resiliency of this team. This game was 6 hours and 53 minutes long and while we did come out on top…eventually, im sure there are more questions than answers at this point in the season. Great job die hard Met fans, this MUA goes to you!
If you notice, I did not select an offensive player for a MUA. Im sure I will not get any argument for it.
HONORABLE MENTION
Alex Cora’s diving catch in the 10th to keep the game going
Jeff Francoeur’s sac fly in the 19th to put the Mets ahead
Jose Reyes for his sac fly to drive the winning RBI home in the 20th
Angel Pagan for going 3-6

I’m not sure if you ever consider giving an award to an opposing player, but if you do you might give honorable mention to Ryan Ludwick too for his ridiculous attempt to score on the double play grounder, and his ridiculous attempt to steal with Pujols at the plate. Of course he wasn’t the only guy in the game that did some foolish things on the bases but the Mets that did them (Pagan, Valdes) certainly get no award for it.

well.. i’m glad that the mets won. most of us (or maybe just me) expected to go 2-4 and would be happy if they went 3-3. tomorrow oh wait.. tonight they have a chance to go 3-3 with maine on the mound facing wainwright. well.. a small chance.. very little chance, but still a chance.
a win is a win is a win.. it was an embarrassing showing from the offense, but impressive showing from the pitching. at least it was better than a loss.
btw, it looks like krod could not have come out to pitch the 20th since he was warming up since 8th inning so he said he must’ve thrown over 100 pitches total… but that still doesn’t give him an excuse for pitching to f-in molina (i don’t like that dude at all)

Hey who would have thought that we would have gotten 3 good starts including a very good start from Perez? Maine could do the same?

Best Man Up Award Post yet, Dirty.
Speaking as one who watched the entire game, I couldn’t agree with you all. Especially about the part with no honorable mention at all for our non existent offense.
As you said, hats off to all Met pitching who kept the Cards off the board for 19 straight innings. Who said our pitching was the problem? LOL.
