Well, ever striving for the positive, Eddie Kunz is keeping the hit total way down!
I expect he will be out of baseball (at least the “real” leagues) in another year or 2.

Jacobs DFA’d.
Bay sitting tonight, which I don’t really object to however I object to this lineup.
Reyes
Cora(resting Slappy’s legs, so ok)
Wright
Catalanatto(Like, WTF. He wasnt even a cleanup hitter in highschool)
Frenchy
Matthews(someone has to play OF, but why hit him ahead of Barajas or Pagan)
Barajas
Pagan

I feel bad for Maine. With all the pressure on him to perform to keep his rotation slot, he has to have this silly looking lineup hitting for him. What goes through Jerry’s pea-sized brain to actually think Catalanatto should be cleanup? This game has disaster written all over it. Though, a weak lineup means Wainwright will help my fantasy team more. I guess that’s something.

Apparently the 2nd baseman has to bat 2nd and the 1st baseman has to bat cleanup. Unwritten Jerry rules.

It’s been well established….Jerry is a complete and utter moron. He’s so obsessed about alternating lefties and righties. The lineup I’d go with if I had to pick from this motley crew is…..
Reyes
Pagan
Wright
Francoeur
Matthews
Cat
Barajas
Cora

Dirty’s or Asod’s would be a vast improvement over what the General is putting out there. While my heart skipped a beat knowing Jacobs was gone, I sit and look at that lineup he’s putting out there and can’t fathom what to say. Utterly befuddled. Cat? Seriously?

Now let’s hope the next move is to send Mejia down and call up Ike Davis or Chris Carter. Hell, I’d actually send Mejia down, DFA Cat and bring up both Davis AND Carter, but that’s just me…..Then again, Cat is awesome enough to be tonight’s cleanup hitter, despite his 1-for-11 season. WTF?

Glancing behind the curtain it seems we have two authors working on a Jacobs DFA post, I won’t make it three.
Wow. I am pleasantly surprised. I guess looking at a 20 inning game in which your team gets only 9 hits, including many 0 for 6′s and 0 for 7′s was enough impetus to make a change. I wonder if they’ll go all in for Davis, or if they’ll hedge their bets with Carter.

Or as I said above, go with both. Cut Cat, send Mejia/Stoner back down and bring up both Carter and Davis. I’d be very excited by that move….

I hear you, but I’m shocked enough by this that I’m not going to ask for more.
Carter and Evans are already on the 40 man, Davis is not but cutting Jacobs obviously opens a spot. I suppose it could be any of those 3 coming up to replace Jake.

By the way, if you think John Maine has been bad, check out Jason Marquis’ line today. 0 IP, 4 H, 7 ER, 1 BB. Now 0-3 with a sparkling 20.22 ERA.

I laughed a hearty laugh of self-satisfaction when I saw that line.

well looks like Jacobs is gone and while that is a great move, I would love to see them call up Carter and give him a shot.
I repeat I do not want to see Nick the Stick at 1B

One of the beat writers made an interesting point. They could have just optioned Jacobs to AAA since he has an option left, but they designated him for assignment to open up a spot on the 40-man. Since Davis is not on the 40-man, looks like he’s coming, folks. Excited about it, but again, like a broken record, they should cut Cat loose and give Carter a shot as well.

anyone know what the cards lineup will look like? If Molina is in that deserves a tip of the cap.
