I got creamed this week, I have a lineup of Jason Bay’s. At least my pay leagues are going well.

what pay leagues are you in? I didn’t get any this yaer, usually like to do one with a salary cap or something to mix it up a little.

I’m a big CBS sportline guy. I always did 3 H2H a year but last year tried a roto for the first time and loved it. H2H drives me nuts due to the luck variable and Roto really takes in the whole season better and there is always a chance to make a late push. The only downside is no playoff, and I enjoy that part. So I have one Roto 5×5 and on H2H. So after this year I will make the decision to stick with one format and will probably stick with roto.

I like h2h better than roto just for that reason. Roto is the WHOLE year in consideration…you miss the fantasy league appeal to the whole thing. I like the rush of actually watching a player on another team because they can be the difference in a win or loss for a week. I think h2h is more exciting than roto imo. I had one last year, tooooooooooooooo boring…almost forgot i had it. To each his own but I like h2h, more fun.

And to complain a little further, which I am sure you all will love (kidding), this daily management thing is quite the “not fun”.

I like the daily management. I would say if weekly were the method that we would probably need more than 2 weekly adds allowed, but with daily it’s good to have that restriction to prevent pitcher roulette.

I much prefer daily. I’d forget weekly. Now I just make rosters part of my morning. It’s easy enought oset up the pitchers days in advance though.

Basically my same crappy team that went 6-12 in week one went 13-4-1 in week two. The only player changes were I lost Aaron Hill to the DL so I picked up Kelly Johnson, and I swapped out my one back up offensive player who basically only plays when my starters sit or have a day off from Luke Scott to Paul Konerko.
Hardly earth shattering changes yet huge difference in outcome. I’m still open minded as I’ve only played H2H for two weeks but it seems based on early returns that it’s more random than knowledge or skill, at least related to any knowledge or skill that I might posess. I think some tweaks to how the rosters are assembled would make it better, but again it’s only two weeks I could be wrong, and anyway I’m talking about next year, not just altering something now. Next year I would probably go with just 3 OF instead of LF, CF and RF, and I would probably eliminate 1 of the relief pitcher specific spots, but that’s just me.
Speaking of which I’m not into the continued random ongoing rule changes. Eliminating the “do not cut” list just because it didn’t suit one person didn’t strike me as a cool thing to do, especially without any consultation with the rest of the league. And why the shortened waiver period? But what’s done is done.

It would be fun to do a Keeper’s league… Always wanted to try it.

This is the first time I’ve been in one of these Yahoo Leagues and it’s a little odd. Because it is based on categories if you team gets a “Hold” then that category will probably be a win. I would rather see a point system like CBS does it, posted their rules below.
I just noticed the do not cut list change the other day and it should of been done. Rules need to be set until the season is over and our input will help drive it to the right direction. I agree with you have a 2 OF and they can be mixed. At most I would want to see 2 relievers

I’m not anti-rule changes. I believe that democracy should rule, but it can’t if it isn’t applied.
Bottom line it’s just a game and there’s no money involved so if tomorrow I wake up and “Oakland starting pitchers don’t count on Tuesday” is a rule it really doesn’t matter it’s just a game for fun.
I played in a league on Sporting News last year that had points like that. The points themselves were fine, I think they were such that they painted an accurate representation of what my players had accomplished. What I didn’t like was that the league had assigned salaries to each player which functioned like a stock market, going up or down as the player did well or poorly, and I never learned how to function properly within that system. I don’t miss it (Sporting News canceled fantasy baseball).
