Adam Rubin of ESPN New York is reporting that Mike Jacobs has cleared waivers.
If he will report to Buffalo remains to be seen.

Evans 3-4 today, hard time seeing why Jacobs would agree to stay here. We have Davis and probably Murphy ahead of him plus a guy like Evans. Gotta believe another team has even less at 1b that he could have a better shot

Where else would he go? Newark Bears?

LoL you gotta luv it.
1st Cerrone posts that Francesa said “The Mets have been sniffing around Roy Oswalt… for the first time, the Astros are listening.” Then it is followed by Rubin saying source close to Houston says “They may sniff, but have no chance,”
LoL, Rubin and Francesa having a sources war and Cerrone is providing the play by play LoL.

I’ll update you on the Oswalt situation. He’s not going to NY.
Full No Trade, big time southern boy, Astros never conceeding that they suck until after the trade deadline. If they get sold, then I can see it.
And a power pitching smallish frame pitcher in his thirties… See “Martinez, Pedro”.

Full No Trade says it all.

Astros will want kings ransom for oswalt and I doubt he is interested in coming here…pass

On top of all that, doesn’t he have some kind of back injury? He’s on my fantasy team and I remember sometime in the last 30 days (right at the end of spring training I think?) him having “an injection.” Injections in my limited, non-medically educated understanding, alleviate the symptoms not the cause. It would seem he’s a ticking time bomb of a back injury.

I think we should see where the Mets pitching staff is come trade deadline. Perhaps Astros can take Castillo or even Ollie’s contract in return.
Let’s put it this way, we know Omar will not overpay to get players. We’ve seen it this offseason and last year’s trade deadline. I don’t think we need to worry about that. IMO.

I recall that Oswalt has a back injury that relly needs surgery, but he decided to play through it. Also something about him retiring after this year? Butyes, a ticking time bomb that isn’t what he used to be.
Hell, might as well save the prospects and a whole lot of $$ and resign Pedro. And right now, pedro over maine doesn’t sound like such a bad trade!

What I’m saying is that I would be okay for getting him if the Mets can ship off Castillo or Ollie plus a B-level prospect like Evans or Parnell.
The only incremental salary that the Mets would pay is pro-rated amount of $4-9M per season under the assumption that the Mets do their due diligence on his health.

If yo ucan get him for Castillo and parnell, then by all means, do it.

I hope like hell he doesn’t report. I want him no where near the Mets. That way, they won’t get tempted to do something stupid and ever call him up again.
Might as well use the guys with a potential future (like Evans), or at least the fan favorites (like that hessman guy) instead.
