PITCHER

Cant ask for more from your ace. With the chance to win their first series, the Mets turned to Johan and as usual he did not disappoint. Johan went 6.1 innings with 5 punch outs and one earned run allowed for his second win of the season. Johan definitely had his feel for the change up tonight as it danced in and out of the strike zone, accompanied of course by a swing and a miss. Running out of words to describe Johan so lets just just he is just awesome. Im sure he will be the first to say he is glad this one ended in 9 instead of 20.
HITTER

DAVISMANIA continued tonight as the kid went 3-4 and accounting for 2 runs, including a very heads up play to take advantage of a botched grounder by Fontenot in the 6th. I was pretty critical in regards to the timing of his promotion but this kid is proving me wrong, along with just about every critizism he had coming to the majors(hitting lefties, defense..etc). This kid definitely belongs here and is the classic “spark plug” this team needed to get back on the right track. While there are several members of the Mets who are struggling at the plate right now, its nice to see what a hit looks like once in a while and this kid seems to remind us day after day. Welcome to the MUA club kid, you deserve it!
HONORABLE MENTION
Rod Barajas gut for blocking Fontenot’s view and lead to the subsiquent botch
Krod for notching his first save in 5 out fashion
Wright for getting a double to knock in Reyes for the first run

I won’t knock Wright too hard on the 3Ks. The double was nice. It helps having Soriano out there for sure.
And what’s not to love about Ike? Even that over the shoulder grab he almost made. Seems at ease and has good range.
Nice Man Ups and post game, Dirty.

You know it’s been a good night when you see a Man Up Award post…..
Johan, as usual, is the Man.
Ike Davis is certainly proving he was ready for the big leagues. He’s a bit older than the last several we’ve brought up and I have to believe having a former major leaguer for a Dad was a tremendous help in preparing him. A real first baseman and a lefty to boot. What’s not to like?
Glad to see Rod getting some kudos too. I watched the replays last night of him ‘blocking’ the view on the play and he did some kind of ‘subtle’ arm waving which was just enough to get the job done. He might not be the best offense catcher in the league but he knows how to play the game.
Now….let’s take this series from the Braves.

Hard not to like Ike. And the best thing is finally having a “ral” 1B. That should help keep reyes and wright out of some trouble.
all of a sudden, the Mets are a pretty good defensive team.
