The Mets struck first.  In the bottom of the 2nd inning David Wright walked with 1 out.  Ike Davis doubled sending Wright to 3rd, then an intentional walk to Gary Matthews Jr. loaded the bases.  With Rod Barajas at the plate, Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda (2-1) threw a wild pitch allowing Wright to score and giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.

The Mets bought some insurance in the 7th inning.  Barajas led off with a single, Jeff Francoeur walked and Angel Pagan loaded the bases when his sacrifice attempt was bobbled into a bunt single by Dodgers reliever Jon Link.  Luis Castillo then singled to center plating Barajas and Francoeur to give the Mets what would prove to be their final runs in the 4-0 victory.  It was the Mets 5th straight win and they are now 7-1 on their 10 game homestand.

1/2 game out of first place! STILL need to get Wright going. I was sure that when Bay got hot, so would Wright, but as long as the team keeps winning I don’t give a hoot!

Hey Wright was 1/3 with a Walk and a steal. Does that count for anything?

He is drawing walks and stealing bases when he is not hitting…gotta love the effort.

And that’s fine, but he’s been horrid with men on base and batting 5th in the order, that’s the most important thing.

        1. trs86

Actually he is hitting around .267 with RISP coming into tonight.

          1. prismo

Which is pretty bad for a 5th hitter.

Well, I am just about ready to believe.

I love the lineup and Jerry must be given credit for being open-minded. Even if it is self-preservationary in nature, this lineup is better. Good for Jerry and good for the team.

And Jerry must be given credit for keeping the team together and positive after the 4-8 start.

Now please let it be real and let it be just the beginning….

    Nice.

    Let’s win 2!

Ollie Perez again excruciating to watch. Handed a 3-0 lead, he’s doing his best to literally give the runs back. Walking the opposing pitcher on four pitches to load the bases. Classic Perez.

guessing ollie got pulled from sheer suckitude? Not great getting yanked in the 4th in the 2nd game of a DH.

Should put mejia in for a nice 3 inning stint, then send him down.

Hey, gotta get points for trying!

Didn’t someone write and article about Wright today? All’s right! :)

Well, if that’s all it takes, quick – someone write one about Maine and post it before his start tomorrow. LOL.

      1. njstuckintx

That was sort of my point. The roller coaster of the modern day fan-dom. :) And absolutely someone write that about Maine. Heck, someone start a running series about Maine, to be put out to print every 5th day.

Hey, I wonder if the 1000th hit coming up had anything to do with the slump, subconsciously. Sometimes it takes hitters extra long to reach hit/HR milestones…just a thought.

      1. stickguy

that would fit in with the mental case theme…
