For those of you who missed this stat last night…
In game two, David Wright hit his 1,000 career hit, in his 868th game – with 143 HRs.
Only 3 NY players in history have accomplished that feat in as few games:
Lou Gerhig, Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio. Some damn fine company.
Congratulations, David Wright.

bite your tongue, you want him contaminated with Yankeeitis?
How about we just wish that 5 years after he retires as a lifelong Met, he ends up with a plaque at the same place that they have them (and Idon’t mean monument park!)

lol….no way I meant it like that lol. I am counting on david to be our chipper jones in a sense…playing his whole career for our team. 5 years? How long are we still waiting for the Mets to retire a few numbers, let alone give the kid a plaque lol.

Not the Mets. That other place that makes players wait 5 years after they retire to get in.

wow totally forgot who i was playing lol…fleeced?! I looked at it today and if anybody got fleeced it was me lol. You got some good guys there, I was trying to clear a log jam ive had for weeks…I needed miggy bad lol. I think we both made out ok, you have good potential guys there tho…jones bats cleanup, granderson in ys,franklin is serviceable, stewart is part of a team that always gets hot. I can stomach cutting jones and lopez when lidge and happ come off the DL better than i could cutting one of those other guys…at least they went somewhere where they will get some playing time…

And this headline from Mets Merized Online:
‘There’s Only One NY Team in First Place, and it’s Not the Yankees!’

When I see the Mets in 1st place I feel like the guy in that Kingsford Charcoal commercial.
His friends are out in the yard barbecuing and having fun and he wanders over, dazed, in a winter coat and says “what’s going on?” His friends ask where he’s been and he says “it was white, and cold” and they say “sit down and have a burger.”
Yup, that’s what it feels like, celebrating the end of a long cold winter with friends and good food.
