First off I would like to apologize for not supplying a column for the last two days. First off I had a pressing family matter that I had to attend to and I also was a bit depressed over the beating that the Mets received at the hands of the Phillies this past weekend. But on to the positive stuff.
So what can we take out of last nights loss in extra innings to the Reds last night ? Well good Ollie showed up – unfortunately so did Manny Acosta. Ike Davis even though he went 1-5 looks like he belongs and Jeff Francouer is mashing the ball – too bad the opposing team is making spectacular catches to corral them. Well I guess we have to look forward to tonight’s game, and hope that John Maine can be the stopper to this three game losing streak, and that he can build on the success of his last start.

I know many of us were more than disappointed Sunday night. To me, worst loss of the season. Let’s hope that’s the last time we’re saying that.
I’m interested to see what Maine brings tonight…..Like you said, like to see the bats come to life tonight. This roller coaster has too many highs and lows lately.

Ya, hopefully we can get a decent outing out of Maine this evening. We need to stop this mini-slide in its tracks. Don’t wan’t the effect of Sat and, as you pointed out, Sunday to snowball.

It’s turning out to be a very streaky year so far. We’ve yet to see bay and wright rip it up, so the next streak is bound to come. It’s just when these streaks turn out to be Skid Marks… Hope none of your last names are Clein or Haynes.

Yeah, well eventually I hope the offense will sort of right itself and we won’t see these wide swings in production. I think once Jose and DW gets their swings down, they will be steadying influences on the lineup. I think French and Bay are just streaky players and we will have to take the good with the bad.
The pitching on the other hand, despite their impressive performance during the winning streak, is, IMO, going to be a roller coaster ride.

Does anyone else notice, but every time I see Jose swing, he keeps dropping that back shoulder and doing a crazy uppercut. Same with Wright. Me thinks we should start to raise an eyebrow to the HoJo.

Yeah, everytime he comes up, I find myself doing the old Lou Brown from “Major league”, “Hit the ball ont he ground and leg it out.”

Watching bay and wright go down time after time was just brutal.
