Nice outing again for Dickey, I see…
I keep looking at what the likes of Pridie, Carter, Evans and Captain Kirk are doing down there and it just keeps me wondering what we’re still doing with Cat and GMJ on the bench. Yes, I know Junior is a CF backup but can’t help but wonder if Pridie or even Kirk can do just as well.
I saw when Murph returns they’re adamant about sending him to the minors so he won’t be replacing anyone on the bench.

I really can’t understand the thought process. Why are they so wedded to these 2 guys? At least Tatis is the only righty on the bench, and he does have “history” with the Mets (and is an Omar BFF).
But Cat? He was a non-roster invitee that sucked in ST. IOW, DFA fodder. and is GM just going to stay because they traded for him, and don’t want to be embarrassed cutting him so soon? The money is a sunk cost, that is gone regardless. Or maybe they are still hoping he finds himself, and they can trade him? Somehow, I don’t see any team giving up something useful to get the corspe formerly known as the roader on their team.

I can;t see a solution to our common sense. I mean, how long does it take to have all this sitting right in front of your face before you are like “hmmmm, maybe Cat & GMJ aren’t all that good. Our kids are ripping it up in the minors… Why don’t we let them have a shot?” June? July? September Call Ups?

Jacobs is hitting .316 at AAA and recall what he did with the Mets. Perhaps the front office knows these retread minor leaguers, as well as some of the kids, a wee bit better than we do. Cat also has a history of being able to hit major league pitchers and their hoping he gets going.

Nieuwenhuis in CF and the sooner the better!!
The Junior Core must continue its inexorable march towards Queens!!

Kirk is the one that I think should stay in the minors to get a sfully developed as possible. Same concept to me as Mejia (being as I think Mejia is being misapplied). He is the best option for the near-term future (as in next year) to fill a major hole, and should be getting the best development work in the minors to be as ready as possible.
same sa I don’t think Mejia getting spotty pen duty is th epest way to develop as a SP, I don’t think Kirk on th bench would help him get ready to replace Beltran when he is officially done.

While I certainly did agree with you on Mejia, it is becoming very hard to think that he is being harmed. He seems to be getting better and adjusting before our eyes.
As for Neuwenhuis (can we call him KNeu?) I definitely do not want him sitting on the bench. Pagan is not a starter and will get worse the more that he plays. Matthews may be worse than even I thought back on the day we got him.
I am seriously into the future, new Met thing, and Pagan is a bench player in that world. Beltran might be starting in 2 months, he might not; let’s see what KNeu can do now.
Mejia, Davis, Niese, and even Tejada all have looked good. Time for the next future parade float denizen to get his sea legs.
To me, the 2005–2009 Mets are dead, and Davis’ promotion finally killed off the remnants of them, who made their last pathetic stand during the 4–8 start.
Beltran is part of that dead world; let him take another 2 frigin months off.
Pagan is a 4th OF, not a starter, and right now we have solved 1B, and we might need to solve 2B soon. Let’s try to solve CF at least for the time being.
Mejia, Nieve, Takahashi, Barajas, Blanco, Frenchy, Ike, Niese, etc are breathing new life little by little into Wright, Jose, and Pelf, maybe others, and this process needs to be encouraged. Pagan’s mediocrity and Beltran’s decreasing lack of reliable actual on-field time cannot stand in the way of the future.
Maybe Murph and/or Carter can soon help fix the disaster of a bench we have next.
