Man Up Award For Tueday Night

HITTER

Nationals Mets Baseball

THE ANIMAL IS HERE! Carter rewarded Omar for finally calling his number up to the show by capping off a rally that will be remembered for some time. Figures with the way this season has gone, the new guys are the ones that jump start this team. Carter was asked for daily around the Mets bloggosphere and this is why. Carters double late in this game gave the Mets the lead for the first time in the game. This game was one that could have easily got away, not with this team…this team is different.

PITCHER

APTOPIX Nationals Mets Baseball

On a night where the Mets pulled of an improbable win from the grips of defeat, they did not have time or patience for one of K-Rod’s heart stopping save shows…and K-Rod obliged. Fransisco Rodriguez had a very quiet 1-2-3 9th inning to record his 5th save of the season. Im sure every Met fan was relieved to see K-Rod have an event free 9th, their blood pressure and heart could not have taken another wild wild west showdown for a save after what they saw an inning before.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

David Wright and Jason Bay for getting the party started. They both went 3-4

Rod Barajas and Jeff Francoeur for their 2 RBI a piece night

Hisanori Takahashi, Manny Acosta and Raul Valdez for 3.2 innings of scoreless relief

Saw this somewhere tonight – not to take credit for it:

‘The Animal has been released from his cage’.

What was great about this win is almost everyone had a hand in it. Rallying as a team. Preview of things to come?

Maybe it’ll be a fun summer of NY Met baseball after all.

      its always fun.

hopefully they go on a little run now, and stay right in the race for the playoffs.

should be a lot of teams in the mix when labor day rolls around.

Great win, don’t get me wrong…

    But it’s one win.

Every game the Mets lose it’s like “oh my god! fire everyone! this team sucks!” and every win it’s like “alright! now we just have to string a few wins together and we’re totally in the hunt!”

I can’t be both scenarios within a 2 game span. And I don’t really have a conclusion to this thought process, but here y’all go.

I guess I’m more excited to see that this team came back from falling behind early in the game and to see timely hitting.

Neither game in the last two days means much, but there are things you like to see.

      The solid defense.

      Wright and Bay hitting.

The confidence of this team, and the way they feel about late inning deficits.

      The bullpen (minus Acosta)

So while it was just one game, some of these things have been trending in a positive direction for a while, and seeing actual, physical, awesome results just makes it better.
