Well if you was wondering how did Santana get rocked in Philly it may not have had anything to do with Santana and everything to do with a game of I-Spy.
According to this article from Fox Sports MLB has warned the Phillies concerning accusations that bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer was stealing signs during Monday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Apparently during the telecast of the Rockies-Phillies game on Monday night by FSN Rocky Mountain there was video that showed Phillies bullpen coach Mick Billmeyer using binoculars to look in at Rockies catcher Miguel Olivo.
The Phillies claimed that Billmeyer was evaluating the Philadelphia catcher but Billmeyer was using the binoculars during the top of the second inning, when the Phillies were hitting.

Before anyone brings up Joe Mauer let me just say there is a big difference between a player with his naked eye and coaches using Binoculars and add to that possibly electronic equipment if he is relaying info using bullpen phone.

Agreed, I was all good with what Mauer was doing, but when you start taking it to a different level with camera and binoculars..

Trying to take every advantage is one thing but this crosses the line.
I don’t know why but this really pisses me off. It’s the kind of playing that rates right up there with ARod running towards third on a pop up and yelling something so the opposition winds up dropping the ball.
Just bush league.

It’s not like we did not know this was happening. Hell Barajas when we played them was sending morse code to the pitchers because he knew what Philly was about. Look there is no doubt the Phillies are one of the dirties teams in the league and they will continue to be until another team shuts them up.

Hey the next time we play them how about the first 4 pitches we throw at the 3rd base coach. That should to get their attention.

LOL. Then we have to listen to them do what they do so well – whine.
I want to see the Phills fall this year almost as much as I want to see the Mets succeed. Here’s to anyone not named the Philadelphia Phillies winning the NL East this year.

Every team that has been described as gritty or absolutely crushed other teams have always cheated. This does not suprise me in the least and I hope teams recognize this and change their signs or find a better way to communicate, just to prove if in fact these guys are for real…I have a suspicion that they may not. Cheat until you get caught I guess…unfortunately, they already got their championship, they cannot take it away.

I see no problem then with single wave communication between catcher and pitcher. Pitcher wears an ear piece and the catchers have in their helmet. Could be strange for Ollie having another voice in his head.

pressure, bad pitch movement, and one of the best offenses in baseball led to that inning…not pitch stealing.
show me the walkytalky in his hand that led to the direct feed in victorinos ear…exactly. you put a bored, not to mention older, pitching coach in the outfield 400 feet away with binoculars and “stealing signs” automatically is flagged before “doing his job.”
It makes me sick that fans can’t accept a bad game and throw out terms like dirty and bush league.

Boy.. you have just stepped into not so pretty picture.
Give me a good reason why he was looking into binoculars while your team is batting. And give me a good reason why Vicky is on the phone with the BP coach in the dugout.
I’m sure it might be tough to relay the signs to the hitter at the plate, but you can figure out the patterns, game plans, etc. And also I’m also sure that when a pitcher is holding the runners which takes 5-10 seconds, hitters can look for the relay and anticipate the pitch.
Either way, if two clubs are reporting the same thing within 2 weeks plus the binocular and Vicky talking on the BP phone, I’m sure there are enough evidence there.

Hey I like the Pats and all but you sound exactly like them when they were busted. Better response would be a sheepish smile and go on about your business because every time you talk about it will make it worse.

LoL, you know I never expected to be taken seriously that Santana’s outing was because of such a thing at least not entirely.
Let’s be real the guy was warned no biggie I am sure nothing more will come of it. Yes some fans can exaggerate things both Phillie and Mets fans are prone to this.
The Santana comment was all in good fun ribbing our rivals no need to read any more than that into it.
I am sure had a Met coach been warned Phillie blogs would do and say the same thing to the Mets.
OK? Good now just no more binoculars ok?
