I’d love to get our sister blog Centerfield Gate’s take on this.
I have always said that I simply would not look past the Nats when looking at teams we should be concerned with in 2010.
I think it is good for baseball what they have done so far and with some of the arms on the horizon they have a chance of surprising some people.
They may not be that good once everything is said and done. Heck we may not be also but they are playing better than us right now all one needs is to look at the standings.
I fully expect the Mets to finish ahead of them but that doesn’t prevent me of recognizing their effort so far.
If the Nats are not that good, then what does that say about us losing 4 of 6 to them at home so far? I know I know, too negative, but still it’s frustrating.
Lol, ahhhhhhhhh, yea Im making an appearance. I feel horrible bout not contributing. I got excuses but who really wants to hear (read) them. Just want you guys to know that I keep up with the emails and I got ya back. ; )

It’s good to hear from you hope all is well and thanks for still reading us.
He’ll be on a VERY strict inning count (though for our sake, let’s hope he isn’t and throws out his arm).
It’s probably going to be like 100 innings, meaning he either won’t make it through the last couple months of the season, or he’ll have to pitch around 5 innings per game for the whole year.
You are right though Strasburg is part of the cavalry. There is also this kid called Drew Storen and this fellow with the last name of Wang.

They don’t even know what’s going on with Wang.
And you really think Livan will continue pitching lights out ball?
This team will fall apart, no doubt about it.
Now next year they could be competitive with the right off-season moves made.

I’ll have to take your word for it regarding Wang I can’t recall reading anything on him except what was reported back in Spring that he was expected to pitch in 2010.
If you read something saying it is not know if he will pitch in 2010 let me know I’d like to read that.
I don’t know about Livan all I know is right now with the loss of Marquis they have held their own. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good I guess since some feel what they have accomplished so far is not because they are good.
Will they fall apart as you assure us? Probably but then again probably not. It will be fun to see how far they can push it.
The cavalry’s coming….in July. Back from shoulder issues too.

Thanks Prismo for the link.
I never expected him back before the A.S.B. Looks like he is on schedule to pitch down the stretch for the Nats.

So nothing has changed for me everything is as expected so far.
Storen Strasburg and Wang may help push the Nats into some meaningful games if things break right for them.

They still do have young pitching and a good young lineup. Ivan and Livan there for leadership. They gotta good thing going in DC. As far as if it will pay off this yr remains to be seen.
Platino Power is a mystery person that somehow got in trdmb’s fantasy baseball league. It is widely speculated that Platino Power is Matt Cerrrone going deep undercover behind enemy lines to find what makes TRDMB tick.

The Mets are just extremely unlucky.
Or the Nats are using binoculars too.

If you guys think Nieve’s overused…take a look at the Nats bullpen.
I think they have 2 or 3 relievers on pace to make 80 appearances, with Tyler Clippard on pace for like 120 innings pitched.
Not to mention Livan pitching like a cy young candidate.
Mark my words, the pitching staff (both starters and relievers) will be the downfall of this team.
