Go Big Pelf! Big Pelf playing the role of stopper tonight and halting the Mets latest skid at 5 games. Pelf went 7.2 innings of two run ball, bouncing back lovely from his 5.2 inning game against Washington where he let up 4 runs. Mike was in total control in todays game and while I would have liked to see him try and get that last out in the 8th to officially hold the longest outing by a Mets this season, Manuel decided to let the pen nail it down for him. Mike now leads the starters in ERA and in wins so far this season. Im sure by now he has silenced alot of critics who doubted his ability to fill into a #2 role on this staff, including me. Great job Pelf! Keep it up…now excuse me while I eat this crow with some nice tobasco hot sause.

Rod “swing hard” Barajas does it again. Rod had a 2-4 game with 2 RBI’s. Like Gary, Kieth and Ron say almost on a nightly basis…where would this team be without Barajas. Well for starters, they would be missing his 22 RBI’s this season which only trail David Wright by 4 for the lead and they would be missing out on his Mets leading 9 home runs. I guess Rod was that strong presence at back stop that we were missing for the last few years…and it has definitely played the difference so far this year. Just for kicks, Bengie Molina has 2 home runs and 10 RBI’s…wonder who made out on their investment in the off season so far. Let me stop before Bengie decides to blast me on his blog lol.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
“The Animal” Chris Carter, for going 1-2 and executing fundies out of the cleanup spot to drive in a run
Francisco Rodriguez for saving the game
Pedro Feliciano for nailing down the inning for Pelf

Considering Pelf is a hand licker I was expecting an image of a cat here also licking itself.

well, I am proud to say I was in favor of the Rod pick up (and instead of Molina), but I will freely admit I did not pick him in the team MVP pool.

Can’t remember who right now, (I think it was Jerry) commented about how unbelievable it was that Barajas was left out there late in the off season and the Mets were able to get him – and how valuable he’s been to the club so far.
So yeah…I’m with the rest saying Benji who?
Great game. Would have liked to see a couple more hits from the offense but all in all exactly what the doctor ordered.
